This Old Mill was written by Susan Berman, Senior Interpreter of the Nantucket Historical Association; Susan was accompanied by longtime musical partner Ray K. Saunders. They have performed together for over 14 years. On lead guitar and vocals, Ray is the driving force behind the popular band RockFish based in Southern Maryland. RockFish is known as the band that “plays hard and travels light.” Susan continues to perform with Rockfish when time allows.
This year Susan and Ray recorded the song “This Old Mill” inspired by Nantucket's Old Mill. It is included on Island Vibes - The Nantucket Music Collection. Victor accompanies Susan and Ray playing percussion and flute.  

This 40-song album was produced by Nick Ferrantella and Victor Ferrantella at GARDEN ROCK STUDIOS.

Jessica Campbell Pykosz long time sheep flock administrator in the studio befoer leaving Nantucket and moving to Foster, R.I. to revitalize the 200-acre Borders Farm. Nantucket is going to miss Jess and her husband and musician Richard Pykosz. We we wish them continued success in their new adventure!

She had a chance to sneak into GARDEN ROCK STUDIOS before leaving Nantucket to record the basic tracks for a new song. Her song Rolling River is a favorite on Island Vibes - The Nantucket Music Collection.

For A While

Jacob Anthony Butler is an up and coming singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist living on Nantucket Island.  Known for his exciting live performances, he has many fans and is making big waves in the North Atlantic.

His single “More to Offer” is the title track from his soon to be released debut album.  

The album was produced and mixed at Garden Rock Studios on Nantucket by Victor Ferrantella, who was nominated by the New England Music Awards for Producer of the Year, 2014. It was co-produced by his father Nick Ferrantella owner of Garden Rock Studios and former Mountain, West, Bruce and Laing, and Foreigner tour manager who has produced numerous singles and albums.

The piano track was recorded on a Steinway piano at the Congregational Church on Nantucket Island. We used an MBox, three mics Royer 101 ribbon, AKG 414 and a Mojave MA-200 large diaphragm, vacuum tube condenser mic and a Tascam Portable Digital Recorder DR 7 placed in the back of the church for a natural reverb effect.  The tracks were dumped into Pro Tools HD at the studio where vocal and cellos were recorded, mixed and processed.

All My Troubles

Pappalardi was shot and killed by his wife, Gail Collins, on April 17, 1983, in their East Side Manhattan apartment. Gail was subsequently charged with second-degree murder. She claimed it was an accident, was found guilty of the lesser criminally negligent homicide and sentenced to sixteen months to four years in prison and was released on parole in April 1985. She moved to Ajijic, Mexico, and lived there as a recluse until her death in 2013. Pappalardi is interred next to his mother at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, New York.
