The piece Senhores do Medo translates to English as The Lords of Fear and was recorded in Angola in 1997 during the war. It addresses the fear instigated by the war lords, the owners of fear, those inside and outside the country, any country, that lead the quest for conflict as a means of power, wealth, control. They can be seated in an office in New York, Beijing, Moscow or Luanda, twiking their mobile phones and playing with people's lives as in a video game. The piece features Cuban soprano Yetzabel Arias and myself on various of my own instruments from the series Pangeia Instrumentos as well as kissanges, the Angolan thumb piano.

The Lords of Order (in the sense of mass control) is a piece composed for acrux, one of the instruments from the Pangeia Instrumentos series and part of the same set of compositions as 'Os Senhores do Medo'.

The Lords Of Odem

The introductory movement to Quatro Momentos, a commissioned work for the HERA JRP CE CURRENTS project. Quatro Momentos is a  music composition in four movements for acrux, a contemporary musical instrument. The acrux originates from the use of a composition method which I named as 'the Golian Modes', associated to the fundamental Kongo cosmogram known as Dikenga that originates from Central Africa in what is today part of the DRC and the north of Angola. In the current project I created an association between the cyclical characteristics of the Dikenga and those of the chromatic circle. Running with the herd

'Viagem sem retorno' or 'one way trip' is a piece for tahra, morcego and violin. Featured in the Pangeia Instrumentos album released in 2003 by Rephlex. It's now part of the new Naloga album, a compilation of Victor Gama's work for the exhibition 'INSTRUMENTOS' at the Royal Opera House in 2012, curated by Yinka Shonibare.

The beginning of Con Licencia illustrates a ceremony with Chamalongos performed by Tata Nganga Matias Campo in Havana in 2001 when I traveled there for a project called Odantalan. In order to start Odantalan which included field work, visits to ceremonies and a whole musicians residency in Luanda in 2002, permission had to be asked, and granted, to the ancestors and several spiritual entities. This piece also features Felipe Garcia Villamil, Giba Conceição, Hugo Candelário and Barbaro Martinez-Ruiz.

Jetstream is the sound of Sonic Bio, an installation of several elements with lots of strings suspended from trees and resonating with the wind. The sound on Jetstream is totally acoustic with editing and some processing.
