In September 2003 Victoria Fenner visited the town of Cambridge Bay. The town is on the southern shores of Victoria Island, far above the Arctic Circle. This recording captures the essence of the soundscape in this small remote town. In it you hear the people, the music, the sounds, and the environment of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. (October 2003)

You know those notes where people cut out individual words from magazines to compose a story?  Often used by people who want to say something but don't want to be identified.   This is the same thing in audio form. Snippets of sentences from various sources all put together to form a narrative thread.  Much editing. 2010.

"The Hill" is home to many voices.

It is one of the most powerful symbols of who we are as a nation. Many have said that Ottawa lives in the shadow of the Peace Tower. Few would debate that the culture of the city is influenced by this fact. Our identity as a community and our identity as a nation are inextricably linked to a degree not found in other Canadian cities.

A piece for CBC Radio based on the poem After Exile by the late southwestern Ontario poet Raymond Knister (1899-1932).  A conversation on a train returning to a small hometown village. Life, loss, memory. Poem by Raymond Knister, concept by Victoria Fenner, produced by Steve Wadhams for CBC's Living Out Loud.  The role of Raymond Knister is played by Edward St. Moritz (Edward Moll). 

After Exile broadcast version

This is a piece I composed in 2001 for CBC Radio.  It's a meditative contrast on rhythms of life -- the natural rhythms and the human made rhythms.  I am working on a visual layer for this piece, thanks to the Ontario Arts Council Media Arts section.  Stefan Rose of Waterloo is the excellent photographer/videographer I am working with.  The finished piece with visuals will be done in December
