Oscar Wilde’s 'The Selfish Giant' has enchanted generations of children since it was first published in 1888. The 131-year-old short story finds new life as an opera making its world premiere as Victorian Opera’s Youth Opera.

The new opera was written by Emma Muir-Smith and composed by Simon Bruckard. This extract is the 'Giant's Arietta: Children Ruin Everything' and is performed by baritone Stephen Marsh.
