참신한 사운드로 주목받는 두 뮤지션 돈워리아누(dontworryanu, 이하 아누)와 킴재이(kimj)가 첫 합작 앨범 [K DRAMA]를 발표했다.

제목에서 아누와 킴재이의 포부를 짐작할 수 있겠지만, 지난 합작 EP [busan drama]에서 호흡을 맞춘 둘은 칼을 갈고 나와 한국을 점령할 준비를 했다. 총 8곡으로 구성된 이번 앨범의 ‘야마’는 첫 곡 “ehmeh”에서부터 느껴진다. 척수까지 진동하는 드랍과 쪼개지는 아누의 보컬은 ‘애매한’ 친구들을 모두 쓸어버리겠다는 포부를 담은 듯하다. 여러 번 돌려 들어야 조금씩 들리는 디테일은 이들의 포부를 뒷받침 한다. 아누의 보컬이 악기로 변신해 고음을 울리는 구간도 있다면, “mirror” 중간에 들려오는 레이디 가가(Lady Gaga)의 “Telephone”처럼 차용된 2010년대 팝까지. 이런 아누의 스펙트럼을 전부 커버한 킴제이의 세심한 프로덕션은 4K로 듣는 스크릴렉스(Skrillex)의 [Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites]를 연상케 한다.

퓨처리스틱 스웨이버(Futuristic Swaver, 이하 스웨이버), 노스페이스갓(northfacegawd), 에피(Effie)가 화력 지원을 나선 트랙들은 새로운 감칠맛을 가미한다. “bero”에서 스피커 밖으로 탈출하려는 통통 튀는 비트를 꾹꾹 누르는 스웨이버, 여유롭게 “swag”을 누비는 노스페이스갓, 앨범의 화룡점정처럼 터지는 “illnyeon” 위를 쪼개지며 날아오르는 에피. 세 아티스트 제각각 활활 타는 앨범을 다른 방향서 부채질하며 [K DRAMA]의 불씨를 키운다. 더운 여름이 지나도 그 불씨를 간직하고 싶다면 지금 바로 확인해 보자.
