First of all cheers to the band for this awesome track!

While listening to the raw tracks for the very first time I came to a conclusion that i'll not retrigger drums! Yeah and I never did that. 

I think the beauty of this track lies in its warm acoustic feel and moreover it is recorded live so i just wanted to enhance this overall feel by not tweeking or adding useless stuff into the mix.

SSL Comps etc etc etc

To start with I'll take the drums first;
1. Kik Drum: Nothing much, just a minor cut around 3Khz to get rid of that beater sound.
2. Snare: I simply love the spring sound on a snare drum :) So here I used a GEq30 and did a 3db boost around 6KHz and 2db boost around 4Khz to get more kinda rattle! Also I did a cut around 160Hz and 125Hz to decrease the boxxy sound of the snare drum.
3. Overheads: 1.5db boost around 8KHz with Jack Joseph EQP-1A
4. Drums Group Bus: some serious and tight compression by SSL comp! :) Also this group bus is routed to 2C Aether reverb plugin(Sends) for a short plate on drums.

Guitars
1. I have doubled the Guitars only in the Chorus part just to have a wideness in the mix. On rest of the parts, I have panned the guitar to 60% right. I just dont like throwing everything straight away in stereo. There should be some kind of comings and goings in the mix to make use of our brain's amazing sense of sensing the position of the sound coming from some source.  This makes the mix more STEREO! (according to me) :))
2. Steinberg's DaTube(30%) on the Guitar Group Bus. THis is just for a little more distortion to give the guitars some more  body.
3. THis group bus goes again to the second SENDS 2C Aether reverb Plugin for a very short plate on Guitars.

Vocals
1. Compressed by Jack Joseph Puig Child 650. 
2. Routed the vocals to a group bus to add a bit more FX here. The group bus uses a CLA vocals short plate and a little bit of wide pitch to give vocals a little wideness. Also I used PuigTech MEQ5 on the vocals. A 3db boost around 8KHz and a 2db boost around 130Hz. This gave me a better, rich n a bit crisp vocals.(I simply don't like too much crispy vocals. That ruins the actual tone of the singer. The vocals in the mix should replicate the original tone of the singer.)
3. The delays in the song are made by cut/pasting the vocal and the guitar track :) I simply love doing this. By doing this u get a very rich and punchy delay.

Bass Guitar
1. Nothing much, minor compression by SSL comp to give the bass more body. And for this track I tried both ways; amp more DI less and DI more amp Less and finally stick to DI more and amp less :)     

Finally, Mixing is an art and ever engineer has his or her own opinion regarding the mix. I loved the way this track was recorded and felt like mixing it in a very simple yet effective way without loosing its originality and warmness!
