Vikrit is a Progressive metal band from a small town of Ranchi in Jharkhand, India. 
The band was started in 2010 by 'STEVEN AKE' on guitars and 'JAYANT DORAIBURU', on drums with the sole purpose of making and learning about music. Being from a small town, where a metal scene is growing, it was really hard to find likeminded musicians, but eventually they found their bassist in 'ANIKET VERMA', vocalist in the amazing 'ROHIT MICHAEL TIGGA' and keyboardist in 'SURYA THAPA'. 
Growing up in Ranchi they were inspired by local bands that played Heavy Metal and Funk Metal. But they always wanted to do something different and more experimental. They found their music in the fusion of the Complex Time Signatures of Tribal Beats of Jharkhand and Heavy metal music they grew up around, and thus they started playing PROGRESSIVE METAL. The music of Vikrit is a blend of the Dark sound of Opeth and chord progression changes of Dream Theater. 
Vikrit has competed in several competitions in India bagging 1st prize at XISS Ranchi, 3rd prize at ISM Dhanbad and 3rd prize at BIT Mesra. The band's guitarist Steven also won the 'Best Guitarist' award at Strawberry Fields 2017(Bangalore) a national level competition. Apart from competing, the band has done several gigs around Jharkhand and West Bengal. 
On March 1st 2018 the band released their first Progressive Metal EP 'The King in Exile' consisting of 5 tracks. It is an Independent release.
