We're excited to have a brilliant staple of the NY house music scene for this session of the radio show with a deep and sultry mix that is perfect for the warming weather and sunny skies.

Valissa Yoe was born in Chicago, home of house music, to then move to New York at the age of 3 with her artist parents who were pursuing their dreams in the big city. Valissa grew up listening to R&B, Soul, and Funk, later to fall under the spell of house music and reconnect with her Chicago roots. In 2002, she studied fashion design at FIT. She has spent years cutting her teeth as a fashion stylist and makeup artist working for the likes of Madonna and Usher.

Knowing her creative juices wouldn’t stop there, she fully submerged herself in the underground dance scene, club-hopping and bumping arms with living legends like Green Velvet, Danny Krivit, Derrick Carter, Tony Humphries, and Danny Tenaglia. She decided she needed to learn the craft and dig deep for her sound blending the new with the nostalgic, giving her the tools to move any crowd until the lights come on. One of her first dj gigs was opening for famed DJ, A-Trak and hip hop superstar, Drake. She has since DJed with Eli and Fur, Q-Tip, T-E-E-D, Curses, Nomi Ruiz, Escort, Casey Spooner, Plastic Plates, Lux Groove, Cry Baby, Lauren Flax, Alexander Technique, and for Todd Terry’s label, Terminator Records. She has also opened in support of John Legend and Lil Kim. Valissa’s sound is a mix of sultry disco/funk, soulful house, and dirty-bass vibes, decisively curated for a bumping dance-floor. She plays around the globe from high-profile Fashion Week parties in NYC and Paris, swanky nights of disco and house at Boom Boom Room NYC and Sketch London, rooftop parties at Le Bain NYC and Soho Beach House Miami, to sweaty dance floors in Brooklyn at Output, Panther Room, and House of YES.
