Viktor Wilhelmsen is a Norwegian singer, guitarist and songwriter. He works within traditional blues and folk song forms, but is constantly trying to add a little extra. While Bob Dylan is his biggest influence lyrically, blues singers like Skip James and Robert Johnson are among his most important musical heroes. With a bottleneck technique resembling Ry Cooder and well-crafted songs as a solid foundation, Viktor Wilhelmsen presents something that is uncommon these days - blues with good melodies, and lyrics written with much care.

Viktor picked up the guitar at the age of five, and has been playing ever since. Growing up in the cold rural north, there was certainly enough time to play guitar. He has played concerts on festivals and in clubs all over Norway with his own band The Great Big Taters and his solo project, and in 2010 he graduated from NTNU in Trondheim with a Bachelor degree in jazz. He has also played alongside artists such as polish trumpet legend Tomasz Stanko and the norwegian ska band Hopalong Knut. In 2009, Viktor won the annual award for best young guitarist at the Notodden Blues festival.
