Marking the first international collaboration on @canaperecords hailing from Gothenburg's @vilhelmhasselgren blesses the label with three killer club tracks on his new EP, 'Extend'.

Pulling from the broken, ethereal productions of the mid-late '90s, Vilhelm’s work refracts a timeless sound through a modernist lens. "With great pleasure, we introduce our first international collaboration: hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, 23-year-old producer Vilhelm has blessed us with 3 gorgeous club tracks on his ‘Extend’ EP.

Pulling from the broken, ethereal productions of the mid-late 90’s, Vilhelm’s work refracts a timeless sound through a modernist lens. With a lavishly reverberant sonic palette, the Swedish producer’s Canapé debut observes a playful contrast between sparsity and complexity—a theme that is explored with compelling urgency across the EP’s length. Carried by dynamic passages of sub and break, Vilhelm’s ability to convey feeling within a club-ready track is second-to-none.

Alongside production and DJ-ing pursuits, Vilhelm also runs Villa Records with his younger brother Einar Hasselgren. Established in 2020, the label champions the jungle, drum & bass and dubstep community blossoming on Sweden’s SW Coast.

“Industrial-coastal experimentation, oxidised & crystallised in composite turbulence…

Following 2023’s raw and provocative ‘i am rezonant’ [RZB001], two ambitious artists further tease the paradigm of Dance Music on Rezonant Body’s latest 12”, ‘Auto / It’s Raining (Sativa)’ [RZB002].

Taking residence on side A, Swedish-born producer Vilhelm cites an exquisite passage through glassy, esoteric Jungle. Fortified by a characteristically thunderous low-end, Hasselgren’s crystalline harmonics float effortlessly between agile breakbeats.

RZB founder, Daddy Hyphen, assumes a contrastingly coarse and turbid sound on the record’s B side. Like petrol shimmering in polluted waters, ephemeral glimpses of clarity are clouded in a swirling pool of broken, percussive Dub-Techno.

Across the record’s 26-minute runtime, Hyphen and Hasselgren strike an arresting balance between technicality and fluidity. Rousing a vision of industrial force colliding with the natural world, a question is posed: ‘Where do humans stand in this collision?’”
