Spending over 22 hours a day alone in a cell has a negative psychological impact on all human beings. The reality is that on any given day 80.000 US prisoners are kept in solitary confinement. The majority of the prisoners in solitary confinement is kept there most of the time  for a period exceeding four weeks.  Many of them are kept months, years, and even decades in solitary confinement.  
Solitary confinement is torture according to the United Nations. Solitary confinement is inhumane. Using solitary confinement as a  form of incarceration is illegal. It has to stop.

I wrote the lyrics of Spirits Guiding Me Be My Mirror In Solitude from the perspective of a prisoner in solitary confinement. Trying to place myself in his or her position. Putting in words and music his/her personal emotions, searching balance and peace of mind in isolation in this hell on earth.
"Talking to people you know in your head. You think of them, ask them questions in your head and answer those questions as if their spirits visit you in your mind. Travelling with them, to them, to places you want to travel to; in your mind. Your answers to your questions are their answers to your questions. They feel what you feel. You are the spirits that visit you in solitary."

Early in the morning looking down from our balcony, 
I see a pup, lost in the middle of the empty playground.  
Shivering from the cold wind. Shaking out of fear.  
Wining: “I want to live.” 

I feel sorry and I’ve got time to care.

Trying to get out of a box on our balcony.
A true-bred pup of the stray dog race.

We drove to the mountains outside our city.
Some poor village people lived there. They needed a new dog.

Hi. "My dark room" is a song I wrote in 2006. Finally having the courage to enter the dark room in my head. The place where my secret hidden forbidden thoughts were hiding. A song about facing my own fears, breaking my prejudgments, facing, accepting my demon & my god inside me. Living my life, recognizing, appreciating, accepting, knowing, harmonizing both of them. A song written about the shell shock in my mind realizing: "I'm the killer & I'm the victim." Recognizing I (we) potentially unite the best & worst I (we) can be for each other; do to each other.
