Multi-instrumentalist 'Liphe' returns to Village Live Records with a stunning new project titled 'Insulo'. 

The 5 track EP is a combination of uplifting, blissed out lofi hip hop instrumentals that highlight Liphe's signature sound within this genre. 

This project is available as a 'Pay what you want' basis to raise money for the 'Joey Deez Collection'. All donations generated will go towards helping local youth charities that are involved within the arts.

Village Live Records Presents: Dirty Hairy - 'Pegs'

After many moons of collaboration London-born producer and DJ - Dirty Hairy has released his debut LP titled "Pegs" under Village Live Records. However, this achievement was not easily unlocked.
This bearded, meandering, low-key jazz enthusiast found himself incarcerated in a Turkish prison, where he endured regular beatings with XLR cables whilst sleeping on a bed of of slightly damp Jazz LPs

After being held at gun point for inconsistent periods of solo musical activity he was forced to cease feeding rappers and complete a comprehensive body of work to share with the world—apparently,
that's what some people wanted. His family and friends staged an intervention, leading to his release on conditional bail. The condition was “ make a record “

The entire process proved to be an uncomfortable journey.
However, over time, Hairy emerged from various cramped and dimly lit,
international locations swamped in pungent aroma of old cardboard record sleeves as he struggled with his inability to remain still. The result is an offering of his essence encapsulated in vinyl.

Pegs hangs out to dry 9 seamlessly soulful workings combining dark hip-hop instrumental grooves with his signature jazzy undertones. The themes explored in "Pegs" range from the chaotic pandemic
times to personal anecdotes recounting recent tragic experiences. The album is deeply littered with profound messages, skillfully integrated samples, and heartfelt acknowledgments directed at friends, legends, and OG’s he encountered on his journey.

In this inaugural solo endeavour as a producer, Hairy invites you to embark on an eccentric and textured voyage through his meticulously curated vinyl collection, a testament to his ardour for record digging and a discernible dash of wit. Notably, all instances of vinyl crackle are authentic and unaltered. So, whether your heart leaps for Bombay mix, corduroy moccasin slippers, or translucent teapots , this LP is bound to capture your affection. And if you happen to harbor an aversion to Hairy's countenance but find yourself in possession of the record,
fear not, for you likely have a rap-inclined acquaintance who will revel in its auditory delights.

Pegs' will be available to pre-order on limited edition vinyl & digital, Monday 11th September, with the full album officially releasing in full on Friday 6th October.

Following on from our first full length release 'Seventy Five' by Ded Tebiase, it felt only right that '1976' by Chairman Maf should be next in line.

'1976' was originally released in 2013, exactly 3 years ago to the date and has remained a firm favourite of ours since it's initial CD release. Due to this fact, we got in contact with Maf and are proud to present to you a one off vinyl run of this monumental instrumental hiphop album.

Chairman Maf has been producing soulful, hard hitting hiphop with a cinematic feel for 13+ years and has built up a solid reputation up and down the country and further ashore, including being listed in IMN's top 50 independent unsigned worldwide urban acts in 2013. Originally residing from Cambridge, his journey of beatmaking began in Liverpool, then onto Sheffield and Bristol. He produced the title track 'Prawns' on Dirty Dike's successful 2015 album 'Sucking On Prawns In The Moonlight' and has worked with and produced for a long list of artists, including Inja, Kingpin, Cyclonius, Loudmouth Melvin, Skuff & many more.

'1976' is 15 tracks of instrumental wizardry and firmly cements Chairman Mafs position as one of the finest hiphop producers in the UK. Brand new single 'Housecat / Live From The Village' from dystopian jazz group, AVER & Move78

The group comprises of Doron Segal (keyboards), Hal Strewe (bass), Nir Sabag (drums), Omri Abramov (saxophone) and Aver (sampler/production). 

Doron, Nir, Omri, and Hal have been fixtures in the Berlin jazz scene for the past five years, hosting jams and live events, as well as touring with their own groups and playing in innumerable other bands. Most notably, Doron, Nir, and Omri are also part of J.Lamotta's live band (Jakarta Records). Hal was in Australian funk band Leisure Bandits and is currently working with Nanghiti. Omri tours with avant-garde rock outfit Alex's Hand and was formerly part of experimental jazz duo Niogi. Nir was the leader of the Bones Trio, an Israeli free jazz group and Doron has just released his debut album, The Addition of Strangeness, with his own trio on Village Live Records. 

Aver was part of both Dayse & Aver and The Natural Curriculum and has been releasing his own hip-hop records independently since 2011. During the making of his last solo album, Dressed For CCTV, he began enlisting the help of Nir, Doron, Omri, and Hal to add live elements to 
his sample-based instrumentals. Since the release of the album they collectively began working on a live set to showcase the new material, and in the process began recording new tracks of their own under the name Move 78. 

The band has recently finished recording its debut album. In the studio, Aver played clusters of breaks and samples, which the musicians extensively improvised around. He has then taken these recordings and torn them apart to create a moody brand of automated jazz. 

The album is scheduled for release on Village Live Records Summer 2019. Before this in April 2019, Aver & Move 78 are doing a small UK tour of Birmingham, Manchester & Leeds, where they will be selling their first 7"as a band, featuring tracks 'Housecat' and 'Live From The Village'.
