La Hoya de las Huahuas in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, is a geological hollow of great magnitude. It serves as a nesting and refuge site for birds such as parrots (Aratinga holochlora) and populations of swifts (Streptoprocne zonaris).
Every morning, with the sunrise, las Huahuas (a type of green parrot) fly out of the hollow in circles, and every evening, with the sunset, they fly in circles above the hollow and suddenly deep dive straight into the 466m cave. The whoosh sound one can hear in the recording are those exact moments when thousands of birds deep dive into the cave for the night.
