Salutations to Him who destroys all sorrows.
In His presence the agitated mind becomes peaceful. In His presence the weak become strong. In His presence the dull become brilliant. In His presence we find ourselves. Wherever Gurudev went, he gave us knowledge and through knowledge we gained strength. This strength makes us strong and therefore sorrows disappear. I remember when I was a teenager, he once told me, "Tomorrow onwards you escort your mind towards Him. If obstacles come, say move and they will obey."
That way if we become strong, obstacles go away and therefore there is no sorrow.

Salutations to the Sacred One.
A devotee goes on a pilgrimage to be inspired and seeks peace and to experience divinity. We experience the same inspiration, peace and divinity in Gurudev's presence. And though he encouraged many people to go on a pilgrimage, he himself was a tirtha. Once when he was in Triveni Sangam - Triveni Sangam is a place where 3 rivers meet - Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Though one can only see Ganga and Yamuna, Saraswati is the knowledge which flows - but many people think its a under-water river. Gurudev in Triveni Sangam in a boat he said, "To my left is Ganga, to my right is Yamuna," and pointing to himself he said, "This is Saraswati."
Let us be that Saraswati. Om Tirthaswaroopaya Namaha.

Om Tejasvine Namaha!
Salutations to the brilliant one.
Gurudev was once invited to the Gulf countries, and in fact that was his first visit. He was in Abu Dhabi and one of the sheiks looked at him and asked, "So you have come here to convert us from Islam to Hinduism?"
Gurrudev replied, "There are enough people in Hinduism, I am not in need to convert anybody. I have come here to tell you to stand straight, your priorities seem to be otherwise. For a normal human being, thinking comes first, next the heart, then the food - the stomach and then the things below the stomach. You people here are standing upside down, your priorities are below the stomach, then the stomach, then the heart and then you think."
A fearless sannyasin answered this. 
Whatever he did, he was brilliant.
Through his letters he was brilliant, through his interactions he was brilliant, through his lectures he was brilliant, he was an embodiment of brilliance.

Om Dehaatitaaya Namaha
Salutations to Him who is beyond body.
Gurudev never cared for his body, just gave it the basic minimum care it needs.During one of his yajnas in Chennai in the year 1991, Gurudev's left ventricle of the heart failed. Naturally two days of his talks were cancelled and third day he was feeling better and he wanted to go back to the talks. By then the host has invited a top doctor, a heart specialist in Asia to attend on Gurudev. But he wanted to go to the talks, so he had a walking stick, with which he drew a line and told the host, if the doctor crosses this line to meet him, then the doctor should pay Gurudev the consultation fee. The host was stunned by this remark, though they knew Gurudev was joking, but he really meant that he is not the body, and the body is only a tool and his work was more important than his body.
To that great teacher our salutations.

Om Dvandvaatitaya Namaha.
Salutations to Him who is beyond dualities.
Balance of #mind is an important #virtue for a #seeker and #Gurudev demonstrated it to us at all times.
When we were near him, we know how balanced he was always. When he responded to various #experiences #life offered to him in his #missionary work, we saw him very balanced. In his own words when someone asked him - how would he rate his work, he responded, "I am too busy with work to count the profits or estimate the results. From the stand-point of the materialism of the #work, this is a wrong way of doing business. Maybe you are right, but I believe that the #call was true and I have an immense measure of #fulfillment, at what I am now doing in answer to this call."
He stayed #balanced and showed us to remain balanced.

Om Dharmasamsthapakaya Namaha.
Salutations to Him who established Dharma.
Gurudev could have been a new-age #philosopher and the elite population around the world would have followed him. Instead he took the path of #Vyasa and #Shankara who went back to the #shastras and brought the shastras back to the people and thus through shastras established Dharma once again. Gurudev did the same. It was in 1970s some devotees offered land to #Chinmaya #Mission in #Thiruvannalmalai. Gurudev refused and said, "please offer that to #Ramana ashram, they are doing good work and they may be in need for the land. Chinmaya Mission need not go to a place where people are already established. Let us look at places where there is none." And that was the #missionary, and that was the interest he had in establishing Dharma. To that great master we offer our salutations.

Om Dhimate Namaha.
Salutations to the Intelligent One.
Gurudev was ever #intelligent, #pure and #selfless. We could see his intelligence manifest through his #vision and #programmes, through his interactions, through his books, through his talks.
In a talk once a youngster went and asked Gurudev, “Swamiji can you teach me a mantra by which I can read other’s mind?” Gurudev did not answer just stared at the boy for a moment and walked away. When #Gurudev sat in the car, looked for the boy and called him and said, “Mind is like a bathroom. My Guru never taught me how to peep into others bathroom.”
And the boy stood there in silence and all of us who were around learned. In a #simple way he conveyed something #profound and that was how intelligent he was. To that #teacher our #salutations.

Om Dhimate Namaha

Om Dheeraya Namaha.
Salutations to Him with great #fortitude.
Fortitude is showing #strength at #adversity. 
Fortitude is an #ability to #think big, staying #balanced and #achieving it; fortitude is never to get #shattered by life. Fortitude is going out and meeting #difficult #people and difficult things and getting it done. 
#Gurudev was an embodiment of fortitude. On one occasion few people complained to Gurudev about a particular person who was quite difficult in the committee. Gurudev smiled and he said, "Do you know why #Shiva wears the #snake in his neck? If the snake is outside it could be more dangerous, let it stay with Shiva."
And the people sitting around understood, saying the difficult person has an opportunity to #transform only being with Gurudev. He was a person with great fortitude. Salutations to that person.

Om Narayanaya Namaha.
Salutations to the Lord Narayana Himself.
In the #Upanishads it is said, 'Brahmavid brahmaiva bhavati' - One who knows the Truth, becomes the #Truth.
Whoever the person who has understood and realised the Truth is none other than #God himself. That way Gurudev, who knows the Truth, is none other than Narayana himself. And many a times he used to jokingly say, "Hold onto Narayana and #Lakshmi will follow." And we know how true this is. #Gurudev started many projects and all #projects need #funds and Lakshmi was right there to support. No project of the #Mission was stopped for lack of funds. So wherever Swamiji was, Lakshmi the wealth followed. To that #Narayana our salutations.
