Notes: 
I've had these windup toys for years. Purchased them, initially, for their bright colors and size to run tests on a program I'd built for a completely unrelated project. Though immediately their potential began whispering. 
The related soundscape between these toys and the piccolo is obviously a central idea to this piece, the clicking and the pitched noise, but there is also something very tangible about the relationship of the winding down/winding up function in the toys to that of breathing/the lungs of a flutist that became the underpinnings of this piece.

Program notes:
This piece is about the distance between musical events and the difficulties posed in making connections between them. However, connections between them still somehow exist. They have to be searched for, invented, discovered. There is something disturbing in that process, but also calming. In the second part of the piece I use a text that I wrote, which gives the listeners new opportunities for constructing the flow of the music and deciphering its meaning.

Переходя через дорогу, посмотрите налево, направо и даже назад. Ну, мало ли что.

Все так стремительно прощались с 20-м: показывали ему неприличные жесты, зачёркивали в календарях циферки, хлопали дверьми. В общем, стремительно сбежали в 21-й, и даже посуду за собой не убрали. Хочется смотреть вперёд, с надеждой и горящими глазами. Но у меня чёткое ощущение, что нам ещё предстоит оценить музыкально-культурный вклад, который был выдан нам в прошлом, и он намного больше, чем мы можем предполагать в настоящую секунду.

Курский музыкальный продюсер Константин Старостин в своём проекте St Costa в самом начале года выпустил EP из двух композиций «Backwards/Smoker». Привычку курения мы оставим на самостоятельную проработку слушателям, а вот с первым синглом, Backwards — «Назад», или «В обратном направлении» — хочется познакомиться поближе. У нас есть ещё немного времени, чтобы порыться в собственных архивах, посмотреть, что мы припрятали в дальних углах, чтобы вспомнить потом — но так и не сделали. Сейчас — самое время: немного брейкбита, приправленного фанком и джазом; пространственное биение ударных выводит из праздничной спячки и разгоняет на ракетоносителе Groove Inc.

Битва ещё не выиграна и мы ещё успеем придумать всего много нового. А пока что — кинем взгляд назад и проверим: всё ли хорошее мы успели взять с собой. St Costa и композиция Backwards. «Я оглянулся посмотреть, не оглянулась ли она» (и т. д.).
