A summer sort of sounding track...

I've always found the transition between two worlds at sunset to be fascinating so this is my attempt to translate it into something vaguely musical :)

Sunset

Tenor saxophones wrapped around a moog core with injections of spacey flute and beats.

This song began with Josh coming up with it on his electric piano and fretless bass, to which he added some banjo, then mandolin. Once he had a solid basis for the song, he shared it with the rest of Eclectic Collective for them to add their parts. 

  Ken was first up, adding his drums in an such a creative way that matched Josh's bassline perfectly. It was originally recorded to a looper disco beat, but that was blown out of the water by Ken's creative drumming. Tez jumped in next, adding his thrilling guitar to the second half of the song. Not to be outdone, Stephen batted clean up, adding his textural and melodic guitar to the first half. He also added some subtle, but brilliant acoustic guitar to the first half, too. 

  This is a great example of Eclectic Collective coming up with an original band sound out of one of Josh's seeds. We're always pushing boundaries and trying to find fun and exciting ways to build a song. Lots of teamwork in here, too, of course. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

I have been hearing so much AI music lately on SoundCloud and these  thoughts have been percolating with me for a while and finally they coalesced into a song. (created without the use of AI).

People complement you on your guitar playing and they tell you your voice sounds great
It makes you feel so good but you don’t ever set them straight
Those classic rockers used to write 10 or 12 good songs every couple of years
Now you’re posting two or three songs a day and hoping for a bunch of cheers
You’re rolling the musical dice, hoping you’ll come up with a catchy viral hit 
But there’s so much music flooding the internet that no one gives a shit
You tell yourself you’re a great artist because prompting takes a lot of skill
But deep down you know the AI did most of the work and you swallow the bitter pill
People complement you on your guitar playing and they tell you your voice sounds great, it makes you feel so good but you don’t ever set them straight
Some people believe we’re living in simulation and none of this is real
We’re just digital creations in a computer with the ability to feel
But even if that’s not the case, we’re quickly, heading to a place where no one’s going to be able to tell the difference.
You used strum your guitar, trying to capture lightning in a bottle and the songs that emerged came from you.
And now the songs you write with AI, what they’re saying, you don’t have a clue.
Music used to feel therapeutic, it was a window on your soul that you could share.
But now something feels missing because your songs no longer lay your heart bare.

There is one difference between real creativity and artificial guess work. FEELING

That's what this song aims to achieve is spell that out. I'm pretending to be Obi Wan Kenobi telling all the prompters Jedi Master style why they are poisoning themselves and the younglings of planet Earth. I couldn't give a shit what that comes across like. what's more important to me is to have inspirational opposites to the poison being delivered to little humans that haven't figured themselves out yet or haven't figured out how to be creative. So meet Jedi vocal! Fuck the prompters... you'll all get sick of your own with smell soon and you'll soon realize the only fucking way to make art is to FEEL it. That's the life force and the best most powerful FEELINGS come from love and linking love or your Heart to ART. So stop insulting what inspired us all up to this point and feel it. Just because your brains are being poisoned with constant advertisements telling you AI is the answer to everything doesn't make it true... It will have lots of answers for society but if we are not careful it will destroy your individualism if it hasn't already. So wake the fuck up... Our children are worth more then that shallowness

I'm starting to lean towards spirituality existing in our DNA. Maybe it's the potential energy we all have and maybe that's where the spirits past lie in wait for us to still inspire us. it's the most scientific place my head has ever being tying modern scientific reality to the spiritual feelings we all have of we open ourselves up to that or if we want to keep a valid connection open to the inspiring people that have left us

I'm not gonna lie to you guys, this one's gonna assault your ears.  It's rough and nasty.  This is actually a live version of a track we released years ago, originally called "Who Were Fanny And Phaggot?"  This is also the only song to feature our occasional bassist, Dick Wartz, who plays bass on both versions.  Gremescer plays guitar and vocals, and Mick Mack is on drums.  This track was recorded on a Tascam 4 track tape machine, and believe me, it shows.  There's some mighty fine tape rasp and hiss in there for some of the real audiophiles out there.  Don't say you weren't warned.
