A man who believes will praise and ask
A man who asks will surely receive
And a man who receives will praise again
This is the logic of faith
This is the pattern of Scripture
Anything else is superstition

But many object and call asking shallow
They claim prayer is only to change ourselves
But this is unbelief dressed as virtue
Too holy to ask, too faithless to expect

When a man says, “Give me,” to God, he honors God
He shows he is not trusting in himself
He is not asking from men
He acknowledges God as God
The one with power and integrity
The one who rules the world and keeps his word
This is the voice of a man who believes
And it is the voice God loves to hear

Abraham pleaded for mercy
Moses asked for signs
Hannah cried for a child
David asked for deliverance
Elijah prayed for fire
The disciples prayed for miracles
And Jesus said, “Ask, and you will receive”

“The Lord says rise, the time is near.”
“I will move, but I want you here.”
“The path is set, the foe will fall.
But the honor won’t be yours at all.”

In Shunem lived a woman, generous and wise
Fed the man of God each time he passed by
She said to her husband, “Let’s build him a place
A bed, a chair, a table, a lamp in that space”

One day Elisha rested in her upper room
Said, “What can I do for you? Shall I speak for you soon?”
But she asked for nothing, just to serve the Lord
Till Gehazi whispered, “She has no child, and her husband’s old”

Elisha said, “This time next year, you’ll hold a son”
She said, “Please, don’t lie to me” — but God’s word was done

The word of the Lord will stand
No matter what it seems to man
He brings the promise to pass in His hand

The boy grew strong, till one harvest day
Cried out to his father, “My head, my head” in pain
By noon he lay still in his mother’s arms
She carried him upstairs, to the prophet’s bed she laid him down

She saddled her donkey, pressed it through the land
Found the man of God on Mount Carmel’s sand
Fell at his feet, said, “Did I not say—
Don’t deceive me?” Tears would not stay away

He sent his staff ahead, but the child lay still
So Elisha went himself trusting God's will

The word of the Lord will stand
No matter what it seems to man
He brings the promise to pass in His hand

Shut the door, prayed to the Lord
Stretched himself on the child’s form
Flesh grew warm, breath returned
Seven sneezes, the boy’s eyes turned

Pick up your son, the promise lives
God is faithful, every gift He gives

Raising the Shunammite's Son

They say joy is something else, a quiet, hidden state
As if God would give us less, as if we should just wait
But joy is happiness, no sorrow mixed inside
He said my joy in you will last, will always stay alive

He shows the path of life, where pleasures never end
His blessing makes us rich, no sorrow to amend
When prayers are answered clear, the gladness overflows
This is the life in him, the only one that grows

Be happy with God, and you get what you want
Delight in the Lord, see the fullness of your song
Be happy with God, and you get what you want
Joy is the promise, and the promise is strong

He’s not indifferent here, he cares for every need
He gives more than we ask, beyond what we can dream
His joy is real delight, just ask him every day
It’s certain as his Word, no other truth can stay

Fullness of joy in his presence is mine
Pleasures forever at his right hand shine
Faith holds the promise, faith calls it done
Happy in God, I have already won

Be happy with God, and you get what you want

The clock kept ticking down the line
Kings and prophets marked the sign
Not one second late or rushed
He stepped into the dust

The Maker took a body on

Eternal Word in mortal skin
