One of my all time favorite songs.

I discovered John Denver's music in a second hand shop. I was looking through old beat up records and found his 'An Evening With John Denver' album.  I bought it because I liked John's smile on the jacket. Years later, I was at Byron Bay Blues and Roots festival and stumbled on Toots & The Maytals doing their cover of this song.  I thought I'd give it a try as well, here it is - Take me Home, Country Roads.

I wrote and recorded this for my old man months ago in my living room, and tried to re-track it in a studio setting to get better sounding recordings, and doing the thing we do when we bring a demo into a studio.

In all my efforts trying to recapture the first takes, I just haven't been able to get it the way it first came out.  It just doesn't do the heart of this song justice.  

I've decided that this is the recording I'm keeping. The takes are rough, but the heart is true.  I value that more than perfect sounding anything. 

In the short time I've been here, I've learned that the greatest most powerful force in the entire universe in this consciousness as I've known it, is not anger, revenge, hatred, greed, power, and the list goes on. Its LOVE. That's it. 
I know that sounds corny, but it is the fucking truth. There is no stronger force.   Love is the only thing that can do anything worth doing.

Most of this record started on the East Coast of Australia, was continued in the Kootenay mountains, and came around to completion on South Vancouver Island. 

'Demons Inside' was recorded in Balfour near Queens Bay, West Kootenay Lake in August of 2012 on the Nut Farm. The rest were recorded at The Space in Victoria BC (Except 'If You Believe' - recorded on Sasha's porch in Byron Bay, Australia). 

The imperfections on this record are an intentional reminder that music comes from the human spirit. What you hear is a real person, singing real songs that were recorded as honestly as possible. Enjoy.

Vince Vaccaro (born 1980) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer.  He has performed largely as a solo artist, appearing both solo acoustic, and backed up by a five to eight piece band.  

His musical influences include Bruce Springsteen, Ben Harper, Eddie Vedder, and Adam Granduciel of the War on Drugs. 

Vaccaro has played shows in Canada, Australia, and the US, sharing stages with bands such as Mumford & Sons, Temper Trap, Awol Nation,  Matt Mays, Jay Malinowski & the Deadcoast,  Sam Roberts, City & Colour and Bedouin Soundclash, amongst many others. 

He was born in Montreal, Quebec, and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia.
