Japanese Techno Veteran Ken Ishii & Dutch duo Kamara join forces for ‘Powerplay’ on Rekids Special Projects.

Active for well over two decades, Techno icon Ken Ishii has chalked up a commendable discography, consistently pushing the genre forward. Teaming up with Dutch duo Kamara for the latest offering on Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects imprint, the trio deliver two fierce techno offerings, combining their individual skills and styles into a formiddable pair of tracks.

Venezuela's Confidential Recipe returns to Rekids Special Project with a strong seven-track Techno EP.

Carlos Siu has been making jacked-up beats for over a decade, combining rave, techno, electro and breaks to perfection under his Confidential Recipe alias. To date, all six of his EPs on Rekids’ techno-focussed Rekids Special Projects offer a subtle evolution of the last and are always at the cutting edge of potent dance floor rhythms. On his latest offering, ‘Rave Generator EP’,

Confidential Recipe offers up his most accomplished works, featuring collaborations with Dagga and ELO. The searing title cut 'Rave Generator' opens up with edgy stabs and fiery vocal cries before the powerful low-end kicks in. 'U Can't Hide', a collab with Dagga, is full of raw texture and propulsive kicks. 'TUUL2' is a more stripped-back rhythm with ice-cold drums and hits rocking back and forth beneath a hypnotising spoken word vocal.

After the wild, cosmic synth lines and slamming drum sounds of 'Minimalz' come the freaky and unsettling synth sequences of 'LAB01', locking the listener in a state of paranoia and high-speed machine funk. Elo then joins Confidential Recipe for the unhinged synth madness and stomping techno of 'Everyday' before 'Once Again' locks you into a crisp and snappy techno groove with wonky leads and chopped vocal stabs.

Funk D’Void continues to be at the forefront of the electronic music today – a highly in demand dj and producer, he has also recently founded Outpost, a record label based in the heart of Barcelona. On this EP classic tracks ‘Bad Coffee’ and‘Jack Me Off’ and are reworked by up and coming techno talent Joseph Capriati and one of the UKs Techno dons, Ben Sims.
Ben, a stalwart of the clubbing scene, fresh from a blistering headlining set at Awakenings 2011,takes apart the frenetic ‘Jack Me Off’ , and pieces it back together, controlling the manic percussion and cymbals while still maintaining the hard edge that made the original so uncompromising and well-loved. 
Joseph Capriati is a relative newcomer by comparison, but has a large presence on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label with a remix of his ‘Remainings III’as well as original releases such as ‘Gashounder EP’.Joseph puts his talents to work on ‘Bad Coffee’, slowing it down to a deep, minimal groove where the original went for a full throttle rave.Capriati’s remix makes virtuoso use of percussive elements with claps, rim shots and snares ghost their way in and out of the track giving it the presence, energy and dynamism his productions have become renowned for.

With an absolute ton of marvellous productions on labels like 50 Weapons, Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver, Blueprint and Ultramajic, we’re having a bit of a ‘fan-boy’ moment here at EI8HT, and proud as punch to welcome Truncate to our burgeoning label.

On the ‘TRUNCEI8HT’ EP (see what we did there!), David Flores serves up a trio of textbook techno DJ tools for the deeper dancefloors.

A stripped down, bouncing groove constitutes ‘Our Bodies’, as rattling ride rhythms and rolling percussion maintain forward motion, its scantly used metallic vocal sample crushed and mangled. 

Latin flavours are at play on ‘Utility 2’, with a female vox and bustling groove adding bucket loads of funk to it’s already super charged vibe, whilst ‘Utility 3’ goes further, ramping up the BPMs and offering up a frantic loop driven banger with that unmistakable Truncate sound!

Not many artists in the techno world, passionate enough to personally pen an email to the office of Tresor admitting love for a record and requesting to release alongside it. But when Vince Watson wrote to us shortly after hearing Future Beat Alliance 'Machines Can Help' we knew this was how we wanted to continue....working with good honest artists that believe in solidarity and releasing alongside music they love. It gives us great pleasure to introduce 'Atom', the debut single form new Tresor artist Vince Watson.

With almost 30 years in the Electronic music industry, Vince Watson has released over 1000 songs including 250 EP’s, including 15 albums and 75 remixes, and his hard work has been rewarded with recordings for some of the very best electronic music labels like Cocoon, Planet E, Yoruba, Poker Flat, BBE and Transmat as well as running his own Everysoul label.  His skillsets have allowed him to work with some of the very best electronic artists including Laurent Garnier, Joe Claussell, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Carl Craig, Osunlade, Steve Bug & Josh Wink and as a touring musician has been able to play at some of the worlds best clubs and events including Enter at Space, Ibiza, Berghain Berlin, Womb Tokyo and many events in The Netherlands. 
His radio show ‘Radio Drama’ has featured top guest from the electronic music world each month. Some examples include Ben Sims, Truncate, Manoo, Fred P, Steve Bug, Osunlade and many more.

Late 2020 Vince released an LP for The Outlaw Oceans music project entitled ‘Hope’, which was commissioned by the New York Times investigative journalist Ian Urbina and is now in production for Netflix as a documentary series.

Vince’s live shows are in demand around the world, performing in summer 2022 for Carl Cox’s birthday at DC10 Ibiza and as a former Tresor Berlin resident, his DJ sets are also now highly requested with appearances in clubs such as Berghain and Womb. Vince is currently resident of 909 Festival in Amsterdam. He debuted at Berlin’s HoR late 2022.

His sets can be heard in many headline podcasts series, where he has featured in podcasts from Carl Cox, John Digweed, Dave Clarke, Luciano, DJ Mag, Electronic Beats and Resident Advisor.

His 2021 His 18 track Detroit Techno LP ‘DnA’ was ‘[re]Sequenced’ by some of his favourite artists from the genre, including Carl Craig, John Beltran, Claude Young, Jon Dixon, Shawn Rudiman, Steve Rachmad, Stephen Lopkin and Stephen Brown.

Vince also debuted a new techno live project called Amorphic which launched with releases on Modularz, Symbolism and Token as well as a self-titled label, now 3 Ep’s deep.

As well as his ‘normal’ touring schedule and studio commitments, Vince’s experience and knowledge is also being put to use by Conservatorium van Amsterdam where Vince is working as a Senior Degree Lecturer for AEMA, the CvA’s new Electronic music school, where he teaches DJ classes, Production classes and Remix classes.
