Remembering Wolfmann.
Twenty years ago last week, I was putting the finishing touches on a spoken word album for Kaz Castillo. The idea was to have a different music producer for each piece, and I asked my good friend Wilfrid “Wolfmann” Hernandez to work on one called Monkey Eating Eagle.
He had just sent me his arrangement - a powerful, driving track, rich with layered, effected guitars. It was classic Wolfmann: bold, textured, and full of life. I was thrilled with it, and we set a meeting for the evening of August 19, 2005.
At the last minute, he begged off, saying he wanted to support some friends playing at Rockestra that night by going to the after-party in Katipunan. We moved our meeting to the next day. “Text text!” 
The next morning, no message came. Instead, I got the devastating news that he was in the hospital. He had suffered an aneurysm, and by the 21st, he was gone, to our shock and disbelief. He was one of those people you somehow imagine will always be around. Even now, I sometimes think I might bump into him at a gig, trading jokes and stories.
We miss you, Wilf. Sharing this track in your memory and honor.
