In this installment of Sound Advice, we talk to Toronto DJ/producer BAMBII, who is known for bringing together the Caribbean diaspora, Britain’s hardcore continuum and the global club underground. Her futuristic, cross-genre approach is on full display on her ‘INFINITY CLUB’ EPs and ‘1000 Genre’ DJ mix series, as well as is exemplified through her JERK party series and collaborations with Kelela, Yaeji, Aluna and Ravyn Lenae, to name a few. In this exclusive interview, we talk to BAMBII about her formative influences, creative process and the importance of community, including reflections on how SoundCloud has been instrumental in her career, from connecting her with artists like LSDXOXO to playing a crucial role in music discovery.

Vinterkarusell began his journey at a local radio station, later residented several youth clubs and nightclubs, performing as well at larger venues. Taking the first steps behind the decks as a teenager, the foundation of this project lies in hours spent blending tracks, discovering excitement in sound and atmosphere that carried beyond the dancefloor.

Years as a DJ sparked a desire to craft a personal sound. By 2008, producing became a way to express emotions and ideas that words couldn’t quite capture. This pursuit continued until a pause in 2015; after a decade away from the scene, the urge to create resurfaced—bringing both a reemergence and a new identity—with the launch of Vinterkarusell in 2025, driven by a renewed sense of creativity and possibility.
