Their unique collaboration began with a DM on SoundCloud, evolving into a powerful musical partnership that’s taken them all around the world. In this exclusive interview, Luís and Guilherme discuss their creative process and dive into the making of their debut album, ‘Sudden Light.’ The pair — who meld house, disco, indie rock and electronic influences with shimmering synths and melancholic vocals — also share advice on collaborating, using private tracks masterfully and taking your show from the studio to the live stage.

Vinterkarusell began his journey at a local radio station, later residented several youth clubs and nightclubs, performing as well at larger venues. Taking the first steps behind the decks as a teenager, the foundation of this project lies in hours spent blending tracks, discovering excitement in sound and atmosphere that carried beyond the dancefloor.

Years as a DJ sparked a desire to craft a personal sound. By 2008, producing became a way to express emotions and ideas that words couldn’t quite capture. This pursuit continued until a pause in 2015; after a decade away from the scene, the urge to create resurfaced—bringing both a reemergence and a new identity—with the launch of Vinterkarusell in 2025, driven by a renewed sense of creativity and possibility.
