Over the past 8 years or so we have had, along with Theo Parrish, the honour of playing the monthly residencies at a small basement club in Shoreditch, London with an impeccable sound system. After 20 years of operation, it was time to move on and close the doors on a place that has a lot to answer for in shaping modern club culture. To say this space along with the owner Ade’s singular vision was fundamental in our personal musical formation would be a complete understatement. 
 
On the day of their closing, manager Charlotte asked us if we’d put the system through its paces for the last time that the club would be open to the public. We set about packing the anthems from our respective residencies and on the night once the people were through the doors played 2 records in turn for the rest of the dance. We included tracks of our own and of friends that were made with that place in mind. Records like Daphni - Ye Ye and Four Tet - Pinnacles were made to first be played at Kieran’s nights there, and the Floating Points - Vacuum EP was born out of the CD-R night at the club, and its launch party was the trigger for Sam’s monthly residency.
 
We set this recording up just before the start of the night and unfortunately it distorts in places, but we make no apology for how joyfully noisy people get! The vibe in the room this night was typical of the club on any given night and we hope this recording captures just a fraction of the spirit of a Plastic People night.
 
A massive thank you from us to everyone that has come down to the nights over the years and supported our music there. We are truly humbled to have shared the music we love with people at this place, and your energy in turn has influenced the way we make music on an unfathomable scale. We also thank the bosses Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakile for inviting us to the club and having faith in us over  these years! All the best for the future!

Floating Points & Four Tet - Final Plastic People 2 1 2015

Flight Facilities - Two Bodies feat. Emma Louise (Robag Wruhme's Endara Wassby Remix)

After his first releases on Hypercolour & Akkord’s EMF label garnered plays and support from Radio 1 to the dusky hallows of Berghain, Edmondson kicks off the first of a slew of releases on his new imprint, Lissoms.

A lurching broken beat and detuned technicolour chords drive the title track, an ode to the ‘Nocturnal’ raves happening in his hometown as a kid. Caraiba is a hypnotic percussive workout, switching and snapping around it’s four-four palette and underpinned with a swaggering bass line. Loop-finding (4JO) rounds out the EP with scattered beats on top of a chopped and filtered sample of a rare-groove track, a fleeting but emotive sign-off for after hours listening.

DJ Shadow, widely acknowledged as a crucial figure in the development of experimental, instrumental hip-hop, will return with ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ worldwide on June 24 via Mass Appeal Records [and Believe Digital in France], his first full length release since 2011.  The 12-track album finds DJ Shadow exploring new realms in addition to the deep samples and kinetic soundscapes that helped to launch his career 20 years ago.  On ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ he’s shifted further toward original composition, a vast experimentation of beats and textures, synthesizers and live instruments including horns and woodwinds.  The album features Run The Jewels, Nils Frahm, Matthew Halsall, Ernie Fresh and more.

So we decided to hire a venue and put on a DJ night where the 4 of us, Adam, Jack, Matt & Kev take you on a tasty ride full of musical treats as we delve into our record collections for a night of northern soul, funk, hip hop, African rhythms, beats, bass music, house, techno, drum & bass and a whole host of other musical goodies!

There's no CDs or laptops in sight on this night - VINYL is the order of the day here and we will be spinning it ALL NIGHT LONG through a mixture of 7, 10 & 12 inch gems of wax.
