TM Shuffle is more than just a name in the international dub techno scene. The Finnish producer, DJ, and head of VUO Records has a rare talent for distilling the essence of depth, space, and rhythm into his productions. His music is infused with a hypnotic pulse that doesn’t shout loudly but tells stories subtly – of snow-covered landscapes, quiet nights, and an unwavering love for electronic music. What sets TM Shuffle apart is his uncompromising dedication to reduction. His musical philosophy is not about quantity but quality: less is more. By deliberately limiting himself, he becomes more creative – digging deep, searching intentionally for the right sound, and developing a distinct musical signature. This principle is evident not only in his productions but also in his thoughtfully crafted, driving DJ sets.

He shares this passion off stage as well: as the label head of VUO Records, he provides a platform for other artists who share his vision of dub techno – raw, organic, and timeless.

In a personal conversation with Andre Kronert, TM Shuffle offers insight into his creative workflow and studio philosophy. In a world of unlimited possibilities, he consciously relies on a minimalist setup: turntables, a mixer, a few select synthesizers, drum machines, and a computer for sequencing. Erwin is a Berlin-based producer and DJ, formerly known as Florian Rietze. His music moves between hypnotic grooves and subtle atmospheres. Sometimes driving, sometimes introspective, always with a keen sense for tension and depth. With Arepas Records, he now launches his own label, kicking things off with the debut release Arepas 001, a statement for carefully crafted and detail-driven electronic music.

To mark the start, Erwin visited our pressing plant at MATTER OF FACT, where he sat down with our head of operations, Andre Kronert, to talk about his motivation for starting a label, his love for vinyl as a physical medium, and his vision of making Arepas a platform for artistic freedom and curated sound. We’ll celebrate this new chapter together on October 8th with the official Label Launch Party at Elevate, Cinthie’s record store in the heart of Berlin-Friedrichshain, where music, community, and the idea behind Arepas Records truly come to life.

The Innervisions cofounder reflects on the label's 20-year anniversary, the art of DJing and bringing politics back to the underground.

One of the most popular record labels in the RA ecosystem is Innervisions, and one of its most popular DJs is cofounder Steffen Berkhahn, AKA Dixon. He started the outlet in 2005 with Kristian Rädle and Frank Wiedemann of Âme. Back when RA ran DJ polls, Dixon was #1 several years in a row. We've since retired them, but Dixon's appeal remains as widespread as ever. He made a name for himself in Berlin in the '90s when he was just a teenager, spreading a melodic strain of house and techno that became the Innervisions brand and continues to pull heartstrings around the world.

This year, the label has been celebrating its 20-year anniversary, and Dixon reflects on its astronomical success on the heels of two major anniversary parties at Berghain and fabric. He also discusses how he's kept the label—and his own career—fresh and relevant; his feelings around commercial success; the importance of taking annual breaks from music and production; and his interest in reclaiming underground electronic music as a political space.
