Episode 38: B-Side Centralizin Soundz Guest Mix Series

Renegade Hardware is excited to announce the release of the third EP and fifth part of the 'From The Vaults' series. Dropping just weeks after the last installment, this five-track remix EP continues the label's tradition of celebrating its storied past and revisiting some of the most iconic tracks that have shaped its legacy.

Leading the charge, E.R.F & Dungeon Kru team up on a rolling, 2-step remix of DJ Reality's classic 'Detroit Blues.' Following that, OB1 & Kolectiv put a fresh spin on Future Cut's 'Whiplash,' swapping out amens for rollers to create a dynamic new vibe.

Shinobi takes center stage with a bold rendition of DJ Ink's 'Mirage,' adding his own unique style. Danny Anger & DJ Chef join forces for the third collaborative remix on the EP, delivering heavyweight amens on their powerful reinterpretation of Loxy & Ink's 'Sabretooth.'

Wrapping up the EP with finesse, Boycot delivers a standout remix of Usual Suspects' 'Shrapnel,' offering a fitting end to this remarkable collection.

As the fifth and final part before the full LP release, 'From The Vaults' is a testament to Renegade Hardware's 30-year influence in the drum and bass scene, showcasing both the label's rich heritage and forward-thinking approach.

Stead | Fragmented Audio Resident Mix 007

As the gates closed on our freedom and the landscape of living in the UK changed beyond anything we had seen before, a team of hardcore fanatiks went into action. Dusting off their studio gear, digging out their 90’s sample libraries and getting into the hardcore zone.

Vinyl Fanatiks is a vinyl reissue label run by Brent Newitt, started in 2018. The sole purpose is to track down the artists of some of the collectable underground hardcore classics that were released on the many small, self-funded indie labels that scattered the UK 25+ years ago but have since vanished. Re-releasing the music is the easy part, its finding the bloody artists that’s the real mission!

But they can’t hide forever. Not when you have sheer determination on your side and the tracking abilities of MI5. So, slowly but surely ‘our guy’ started picking them off, one by one using his network of contacts and informants built up over the past 30 years in the music industry. Six degrees of separation? Nah, not when you have been around as long as Brent. A few calls and he can track down nearly anyone.

And so the suggestion of a free download project was put to him six weeks ago at the start of lockdown by DJ H. “Why not do some tunes and give them away as a goodwill gesture to the fans of the label as a big thank you?” he said. But Brent doesn’t like to do small gestures, so he contacted the artists on the label and told them the time had come. Their country needed them. This is more than just an old school comeback he told them, this is your national duty in a time of crisis. What would put a smile on the nations faces more than a fresh batch of hardcore that was totally free??? Nothing…absolutely  nothing!!!

So here we are, 50+ days into Lockdown and the hardcore elite have gathered. DJ H, Diplomat, Aphrodite, Spirits From An Urban Jungle, Silver Fox, X-Plode, DJ Junk, Fugitive, Fozbee & Cooz, Ova Doce, Tone Def ft. Ci Ci Hunter, Fugitive, Crashead and even Brent got off his arse and hooked up with one of his oldest mates, Dave ‘Mad Dog’ Wallace and made a tune under the new moniker MD20.

So please go grab your free album, either as a WAV or MP3 zip, or if you prefer, just cherry pick the tracks you like. Once you have the music, share the link and the tunes with your mates, your family, your neighbours and your gran when you take over her lockdown shopping. This album is all about making people happy, shared with you with love from us.

The label was established in 2018 as a means to release the back catalogue of renowned Jungle Techno label Underdog Recordings, which ran from 1993-1995. It quickly expanded from beyond the original goal and now reissues sought after, rare and classic records from the Jungle, Rave, Bleep House, Techno and Jungle Techno genres.

The Vinyl Fanatiks aim is to track down and work with the original artists from the early 1990’s, to reissue their music on vinyl only, and to support the record hunters and vinyl diggers from around the world with quality pressings and superb mastering; a way to show respect and share the story of those that created these incredible records.

The vision is not to focus on the obvious artists of that time but to dig a little deeper and find those that came and went but their legacy still holds true to this day. Some of these producers only released one record and vanished soon after but their music still resonates into the 21st century, accumulating new audiences across the globe, far beyond the catchment of the UK pirate radios and muddy fields of 25 years ago. What happened to these artists? Its Vinyl Fanatik’s mission to find out!

Each record captures a moment in time, a vibe that was true and innocent from a period when music was far more synonymous with rebellion and anarchy than today’s finely polished productions and conformist club pop. This music itself bred on the outskirts of society, fuelled by the passion of the rave, its lineage stemming from the Acid House era of 1988. Often produced on minimal equipment, with minimal skills and knowledge, its audio blueprint transcends to new generations, a rawness that no expensive audio plug in could ever create in this present day.

Vinyl Fanatiks wants to pay homage to these young producers who forged the foundations of the multi-million pound EDM scene we have now. Each of these artists has their own tale to tell, their own memories to share. Limited by their own geographical status within the UK, they somehow still all managed to connect and influence each other, years before the internet, mobile phones and social media that we have today. But the music knew no limits and had no boundaries, transcending generations to this day.
