Sam’s EP boot’s off with ‘Chocolate’, a track that builds and builds using detuned synths, stabs and funky drums to make any dance floor erupt. ‘Domino’ is a track that’s bassline drones underneath its own distinctive synth line to keep the drums rolling along steadily. The title track ‘Black Leather’ is everything you would expect in a Drumcode record; a subtle throbbing bass line which, keeps the track moving before the synth stabs enrapture the track and twist it into a dark, throbbing composition. The final track ‘Daegon’ uses dubbed out drums to incorporate a synth melody line that will blow your socks off and rounds off this well shaped EP.

David August may have said Hamburg is for lovers but these days we think Hamburg is for talent. From Solomun, Stimming and his Diynamic crew to Digitalism and Oliver Huntemann, the West German city has a long and storied history when it comes to electronic music. Perhaps our favourite act to come from this illustrious musical melting pot is that of Frederic Burger and Patrick Buck, better known to you and I by their collective moniker of Kaiserdisco.

Since hooking up back in 2008 the DJ and producer duo’s career has accelerated at an astonishing rate with Kaiserdisco quickly forging a fierce reputation in the studio as well as behind the decks. Establishing themselves as purveyors of an underground sound that encompasses minimal infused techno, deep house and groovy tech released on some of the scene's coolest labels.

The latest label to house their more than considerable talents is Coyu’s kitty loving Suara imprint for the appropriately named ‘Rex Cats’ EP which lands April 7th.  Now that’s only a few days away but we know that like us you’re an impatient lot and so to celebrate the release and get you lovely people in the mood in the weekend it’s our pleasure to present to you an exclusive sneak peak at the EPs lead track this afternoon. Entitled ‘Devon’ the track is classic Kaiserdisco as they make their debut on Suara in style. Dirty lo-fi drums, eerie atmospheric textures, warped vocal hits and a looped ‘I House You’ vocal sample inspired by the Jungle Brothers hip-house classic. Need we say more?

Maksim Dark - (Live DJ) Was born in the distant Ural, in Serov, Russia. He developed his passion for music in early adolescence.At 16 years of age he began to engage and experiment with music. He had plenty of ideas but was too young to afford expensive studio equipment and space. That didn't stop him from making his first 100 releases on the cheapest pair of speakers. Discovering the darker style of music for the first time, Maksim felt an intense adrenaline rush throughout his body. He was inspired to create something similar of his own, so he began by listening to all kinds of sounds while sitting in a room with the lights off, in a complete darkness. His own signature dark minimal sound was born. At present Maksim still passionately works on improving his technique, blending different styles and incorporating new elements to create a completely unique sound, a sound which does not have a name yet.

We remixed Jaydee’s original last year as something unique for our own DJ sets, however following big support from the likes of Seth Troxler and Art Department we’ve been inundated with hundreds of release requests, and as a result we started the process of trying to license it. When that failed we removed all original parts and painstakingly replicated them ourselves turning it into a cover, and hopefully a fitting 20 year tribute to this timeless classic.

CSMNT61. A group of many names, faces and talents. After seeking protection in the Indie Band Protection Program when one too many stalker girls found their home addresses (the result of years spent as, respectively, the guitarist, bassist and vocalist of former NME darlings and sharply dressed angst-funk titans Lost Valentinos), we've managed to coax them out of their year-long recording hiatus in order to collaborate with our golden boy, Jensen Interceptor. 

This EP is all about stripped back, raw, powerful vibes. It's not a lush deep house slab. It's not a meandering epic with guitars and a choir. It's got acid, it's got analogue snarl and it's got bass. Lots of it. We even put forward the theory that there's some serious west-coast hip-hop influence in there, somewhere
