After the success of our first various artists release, ‘The Voice of EKOU’, we’d like to present to you our next installment, ‘The Full Spectrum’. This project started as an idea to create a platform for up and coming producers, however over the previous months has developed into something that has allowed us to include both newcomers and established artists alike. 
	
In the 2 and a half years since our first release, we’ve been on a constant journey through sound, and have been a platform for a variety of artists, all of whom produce a variety of styles under the drum & bass umbrella. With ‘The Full Spectrum’, we hope to showcase our journey for you, our audience; some of you have been with us from the beginning, others are new to the label - either way we hope you know what to expect!

This is our representation of the full spectrum of drum & bass, and what the genre means to us. We hope you enjoy listening to this massive VA just as much as we did putting it together. 

‘The Full Spectrum’ has 22 tracks, split over 2 parts, and features both newcomers and seasoned artists alike. Part 1 drops exclusively on February 4th via Bandcamp and Beatport, followed two weeks later by Part 2 on February 18th.

Full of mutant club music for unhinged dance-floors and late night listening, Hooves releases his latest EP ‘Character Building’ out now on Addictech Records! 

Melbourne-based Johnny Hooves is a native New Zealander who has spent time with every element of music, finding a love of funk, soul and jazz at a young age, discovering hip-hop and heavy metal before falling deep into the drum n’ bass scenes in early 2000’s. Known simply by ‘Hooves’, he has since carved out a name for himself as a producer, live percussionist, DJ and drummer. With an ear for composition and the slightest sonic shift, he has more than seven years of solo and collaborative releases both internationally and in Australia. As a drummer he's worked with some of the world's most progressive musicians and D&B artists - including Shapeshifter and a recurring part of on-the-rise glitch hop star Opiou’s live band, performing with him across his recent tour of the United States. With sort-after skills as a percussionist, Hooves has performed at some of the world's most iconic venues - including Shepherds Bush Empire and Glastonbury, as well as a frequent performer across Australia’s festival seasons. “Character Building” is a testament to a life spent in a vast world of music, a four-track full of colourful textures and expansive moods – drawing on Hooves’ love of a wide range of genres and a thorough knowledge of the power of percussion. From menacing drumbeats, to anxious shifting patterns, to rhythm that lures a listener to a dance floor, Hooves explores sound as a vast array of characters from a funk-loving protagonist, to a threating antihero. 

‘Jog On’ featuring Alena Schnedier on percussion, sets a cinematic tone as the EP’s dark opener – melting between thundering drum n’ bass, an assault of low end and disorientating FX. 

‘Aspire’ offers a contrasting soulful vibe – skittering chords and melodies entwine with a vocal sample, tipping its hat as an original re-work of the classic D&B structure of growing mechanic bass and a organic, human voice. Title track ‘Character Building’ creates a glitched-out, head nodding beat before whirling into full-tilt with a sinister high, while EP closer ‘Silhouette’ uses delicate scratching and intriguing samples to build a swampy, driving beat.

Not only is his music of the highest caliber, so is his demeanor and humility. For as much talent that is packed into one man, he still maintains a humble and welcoming attitude. Johhny Hooves is truly a legend.

Dive into our collection of powerful and atmospheric drum and bass and dance tracks written and published by Violet Robots in the UK that will make you dance along with us all day and night. 

Our promise to you is simple! 

We promise to drop a new D&B track every month for the next 2 years and longer, but only if we can grow our streams to 30k a month and 10% more for each month after as it does cost time and money to create the tracks.

The more streams we get here, the more track we make for you as we do need better equipment and money to licence other tracks to integrate into our tracks to pop out a banger. If we can’t grow to over 30k streams a month, then we have no option to keep them simple like the tracks we have now but we will stop making tracks and we will never make them again if me never hit the goal by 1/8/2024 as we have better ways of working for better results.

Our future on SoundCloud depends on you and your 10 second decision you make now. 

STEP 1. Please follow us and leave a comment on any of our tracks and we promise to reply back to you as fans make memories last forever for you and us.

Note: If we never reach the 30k streams we need by the 1/8/2024, we have no option but to stop making music as it’s not profitable for us to move forward. We currently have 5k streams a month so please add a track or two to your playlist to keep us going so you can hear more from us.
