Why I haven't Hosted a Podcast In a While Musician Today Podcast

Hey warriors and nature spirits!I am working on a special project this week and I hope you enjoy it with me!The Story of Gloom, Music for Caves :Gloom is a piece meant to be performed in dark space – such as a cave – to fully immerse its listeners and performers in the experience, focused on sound and its deep listening facets. The music calls the listener to focus on their inner voice and light within, discover it and have it guide them out of darkness.The piece is a composer’s story of self-discovery and emergence out of the darkness and hopelessness that many of us feel during the pandemic, further fueled by the pressure of quarantines and lockdowns. It reflects on the feelings of wanting to do something to help yet being overwhelmed and paralyzed by the vast requirements of the new lifestyle that has been bestowed upon all people around the world. Water

This is an original piece I wrote for a Trio: Violin, Viola, and a Piano; with its material drawing origins in Russian Love Ballads. There are direct quotes from known Russian and Russian Gypsy Songs embedded in the piece. This track however explores modern textures with artificial instruments and a Drum Beat. The instrumental version of it is  intended for a live violin and dance performance. Mastered by Vlad Romanov.

The NeverEnding Tango

"A Very Brief Resume of Mine" -This track features three contrasting styles: Starting with Gypsy Bogar, followed by J.S. Bach Gigue Subject Theme Quoted from the Unaccompanied Partita in D Minor; closing with an Original  Pop-Modern Song. Unifying the performance and the Journey between styles is the expressively collaborating Violin and Dance. Mastered by Vlad Romanov.

He was recently named as 2nd Prize Winner for an international scoring competition held by Megaron (Athens Concert Hall Association) in Greece. Afshin and I will share his amazing story of moving across the world to pursue his dream!!!

Afshin is a multi-genre cellist, composer, and pedagogue. He prides himself on creative, interesting methods and ideas to keep students engaged in their studies. His special interest in the production of music for children resulted in a music album entitled “Childhood Desires”, which simplified some of his favorite rock/metal songs by rearranging them into pieces played on Orff instruments. He pushed this project forward, and also compiled the repertoire book “Childish Minimals” where he arranged some of the songs from the album so that young students could easily play and enjoy them.
“Cello Riffing/Playing riff and rock music with the cello!” and “Cello Duets” are his recent products which its goal is to show that we can do whatever we want with the instruments. If we just want, if we are open-minded and let ourselves do it.

Dr. Nina Soyfer is not only a musician and visual artist with prizes and awards, but also she is a prize-winning poet and author of the book The Art from My Heart, available on amazon and kindles.
Today she wanted me to share a few of her expertise and the reason is that she is now offering free lessons and consultations - and doesn't charge money for any of her services. Link in her bio on @ninasoyfer instagram.

Her teaching music experience includes over 25 years; and recently she was honoured to be selected as a Royal Conservatory of Music Teacher of Distinction Award recipient.

After moving to Canada in 2004 from Ukraine, Nina continued her professional career as a visual artist, composer, and musician, while studying at York University, Canada, and receiving PhD in multiple disciplines. She is now the Ontario Registered Teacher and holds LRCM in piano, PhD in piano and music education, and various international prizes in all arts. Her passion is dance and she has been performing for over 350 audiences, including the Governor General of Canada.
Today she shared with us a few music samples from her latest pop album All-Inclusive Love, and classical album Radian Classic, which are available on all major streaming platforms - including instagram.

Vira and Nina go back all the way to York University and even more, to the same heritage.

Gentry Blue is a psychedelic hard rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee in late 2018, composed of Lydia Gentry on vocals and electric violin, Travis Fairley on guitar, Jo Jeffries on bass, and Brendan DeBonis on drums. Best described as Rush and Janis Joplin meet Lindsey Stirling, Gentry Blue is prepared to blow their audience away with their raw sound and take no prisoners. They recently dropped their second single, "What Lies on the Other Side", a lyrical and sonic space-themed adventure of an identity crisis, cut from their upcoming debut EP.

Returning to Musician Today is Arianna Mae!!! WITH HER NEW EPIC SINGLES!!!

Originally from small town British Columbia, singer-songwriter Arianna Mae pairs catchy melodies with a deep, heartfelt nostalgia. Growing up, she began writing her own songs as a way of experimenting with popular music in contrast to the classical regimen she was being taught. Two music degrees and a move across the country later, you can find Arianna performing her original music in some of Toronto's best local venues and festivals. This year's highlights included a showcase at Canadian Music Week 2019 and a performance with Emerging Young Artists at The Drake Underground for their A World Away festival.

Arianna independently released her first EP 'Coming Home' in 2017.
Four of the five songs on the EP were inspired by books, thanks to a YouTube project she started in the Fall of 2015 called #newsongsonmondays. For a year, she read a book, wrote a song inspired by that book, and filmed it every week to be posted on Monday.

Women with Strings is the name of the co-write group consisting of Daisy Sellas, Lydia Gentry, and Jo Jeffries. They are not your typical folk trio, but the music they make transcends genre and makes for a sonic exploration of style and the quest for womanhood. Self proclaimed as a guitar-playing hippie cowgirl, a violin-playing vintage nerd and a bass-playing queer punk bookworm, they make music with a range of subject matter, including feminist anthems, sickeningly sweet love songs and dramatic looks inside the mind of someone with mental health issues.

With their EP titled “Sugar and Honey” due in Spring 2021, these three ladies with powerhouse voices, different skill sets on their respective instruments, and quick witted lyricism plan on continuing to write and gig around Nashville and beyond as they prepare for a big year ahead.

The Mississauga Fine Arts Academy was founded by Vadim Koltsov, a musician with an uncontainable passion for teaching guitar and spreading joy to the world through his love of music.
 
The Academy is a heaven for music lovers. It offers a number of instrument lessons, from Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Drums, Piano, Voice, Violin, Cello, Bass, Mandolin, Ukulele, Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, and year-round Theory, to Harmony and History classes.
 
The music teachers connect with their students and parents on a personal level while working diligently to accomplish their individual goals.
 
The Academy’s common mission is to shape young minds into becoming loving, caring, and an inspirational generation that brings joy and happiness to the world around them through music. As the great Ludwig van Beethoven once said “Music can change the world.”
