It's been a long and strange year already.

Took a long weekend off work, got nicely trashed and let the music EXIST.

Enjoyed the shit out of it.

Like many of my songs, this is about self-hatred / self-worth and the journey I'm on.

A bit of gentleness for a change.

Even DeathBoys need to wind down sometimes.

Trying out a number of recently-acquired acoustic plugins and flexing my instrumental muscles a little in a way I typically don't.

A lot of the rhythmic parts here were me drumming on my laptop with my fingers, through a bunch of effects.

The photo for the track is from last christmas, spent with my folks, which I felt was appropriate as usually it's a... challenging time.

This year was lovely. Hugely better than expected. Just good times and love. So yeah, it fit.

Sticking with the theme of the month we're going for a bit of slower vibe, some interesting rhythms and more granular synthesis

Some filth that spilled out of my brain and into the sequencer.

I wanted there to be sirens. Sometimes sirens are a warning of danger, sometimes they're just there to tell you to pick up your state of awareness.

And sometimes they alert you, but sometimes they become music.

Quite a 90s vibe to both the orchestration / synth choices and the breaks in this. I am a lover of the 90s, so while I didn't set out for it to be an exercise in oldschool, I'm happy with how it turned out.
