Virtual Underground : How has this JĀST story started ?
JĀST : I started making music at seven, when I began to play the drums. The instrument has stuck with me and I think it helps me visualize the rythmic elements in my sets. For the past ten years I've felt drawn to electronic music more and more. It still took me years of listening to tracks and podcasts of other artists and going out in the Berlin scene to actually start getting behind the decks myself. For the past four years I've been DJing and lately I started to focus my attention more on groovy, percussive and hypnotive tracks, that can be layered on multiple decks.

VU : Where do you generally draw your inspiration from ?
JĀST : Especially with the groovy tracks I play in this set a lot of inspiration is drawn from the sounds of the city - this moment where you leave the club in the morning and every rythmic and arythmic sound around you unites and together they form music in your head, that is what I want to achieve with these multilayered sets. But the sound of the sets I play is always heavily influenced by my mood as well.

VU : Could you tell us more about your music selection and mixing process ?
JĀST : I try to dig my music up from different corners of the Internet and I like to go vinyl shopping as well- a lot of it is following the right labels/artists and not being afraid to spend a lot of time out there choosing the right tracks. While mixing I try to keep every song I play running for a long time and to mix it with different tracks, highlight different elements of the track, so the set gets a natural flow that is somehow more than the sum of the tracks I use.

VU : Which software/hardware did you use for this set ?
JĀST : The set is recorded on a X:ONE43 and two Denon SC5000 and a CDJ900

Virtual Underground : How has this ASSI story started ?
ASSI : My passion for music started when I was a kid, listening to my dad's & uncle's Rock/Alternative bands collection through a little mp3-player. I loved how the music made me feel. It really touches the soul and is so powerful to connect with another human being. My passion for techno started about two years ago when I discovered illegal raving during the pandemic. The music, the dancing, the people. Everything about it is fucking awesome

VU : Where do you generally draw your inspiration from ?
ASSI : I mainly draw my inspiration from different kinds of people and genres. As a DJ, inspiration comes from continuously listening to music.

Could you tell us more about your music selection and mixing process ?
ASSI : When I create a new mix. I ask myself: ''What kind of story do I want to tell?''. I want the crowd to feel like they are on some kind of journey. I want them to make them feel all kinds of emotions through my selection en mixing.

VU : Which software/hardware did you use for this set ?
ASSI : I currently use a DDJ-400 on Recordbox software

VU : Whats your craziest dream?
ASSI : To play live for thousands of people at a festival and to pass my mid-term exams. :p

Siskmat : It could come from things that are outter space or just a simple memories , a color , a place , whatever ...

Siskmat : To me the most important thing about track selection are "soul" no matter how well the track are produce , i want to feel that the magic happens trough the production process .

VU : Which software/hardware did you use for this set ?
Siskmat : Only record from others producer

VU : Whats your craziest dream?
Siskmat : In the end of my career i'd love to bring this music to minority across the world, educate a new generation of raver, and for sure launching young talent !

PETER GOEBEL : I've been a dj since I was a child and I've always made a living from music. Techno reaches its minimum at a very young age and since Techno became the prevailing genre worldwide, my work has become international and I'm known in many parts of the planet.

PETER GOEBEL : The darkness and strength of my music comes from the minimalism that rules the cosmos.

PETER GOEBEL : Just as Techno is inherent to everything that exists, so is minimalism in my life. my mixes and tracks are in a rising key of experimental dark hard techno

Virtual Underground : Whats your craziest dream?
PETER GOEBEL : I am not a big dreamer but I know that little by little I will become a Techno legend in South America.

JOVZ: Thank you for the warm welcome! It's a pleasure to be here.

Virtual Underground: Let's kick things off from the very beginning. How did your DJing journey begin?

JOVZ: My journey started when I discovered a Yamaha synthesizer collecting dust during my youth. This encounter ignited a passion in me to experiment and craft soundscapes that spoke to my soul. The turning point was when I took to the decks with my first collective, CBN. That experience taught me the power of manipulating my music collection to transport listeners through diverse emotional landscapes.

Virtual Underground: That's truly captivating. Now, where would you say you draw most of your inspiration from?

JOVZ: The art of live performance is my muse. There's something deeply personal about designing a set and then modulating it live for an audience. This love for live music birthed my duo project, Midnight Café, where electronic rhythms intertwine with guitar and synth melodies, creating a nostalgic ambiance.

Virtual Underground: Intriguing! Could you delve a bit deeper into your music selection and mixing process?

JOVZ: Of course. My selection process is detailed. I thoroughly research artists and their inspirations before tracks make it to my USB. I also practice mixing tracks to know them inside out, ensuring I can seamlessly weave them into my sets.

Virtual Underground: And for this set, what tools did you employ?

JOVZ: I predominantly used my 4-track Pioneer controller with Rekordbox. The set also underwent meticulous mastering on Ableton. And, with your permission, I'm excited to share snippets of the set on Instagram to showcase my mixing prowess.

Virtual Underground: We're all for it! Lastly, could you share with us your dreamiest aspiration?

JOVZ: My ultimate dream was to tour all summer, drawing inspiration from each venue and crowd. Having lived that dream recently, my focus now is to immerse myself in a musical world, surrounded by a like-minded community that encourages genuine expression.

999999999 is an abstract concept from the minds of two people who do not feel the need to define it. It is spontaneous, random, unlimited. This project, officially started in July 2016, has already affected several important Clubs and Parties in different cities in Europe and aroused much interest even outside the continent. First two releases on their label "Nine Times Nine" and the most recent appearance on Planet Rhythm special "303" vinyl release were immediately sold out after few hours. Live is what they are whether in or out of the studio, they are spontaneous. Improvisation with hardware is the key element of their performance and is impossible to replicate.

Virtual Underground: How have you discovered Techno music?
WNDRLST: I think I'm going to give a very common answer and say that one of my friends dragged me into it about 3 years ago (and still super glad he did today). I've always been interested in Electronic music but eventually got convinced to attend a techno festival in summer 2015 and pretty much fell in love with it since then. It wasn’t a hard techno party but it didn’t take me long to attend the more darker scene too which definitely is the scene I love the most. I’ve been DJ’ing and producing as a hobby for roughly 10 years now (on and off) and eventually started messing around creating my first techno loops. After 2 years of experimenting trying to create my own sounds I finally found the confidence to release tracks and sets as I am a perfectionist kind of guy and wish to show nothing less than the best I can possibly deliver. 

VU: What motivates you to do your music?
WNDRLST: The strive to learn to create new sounds every time I open my producing software. I’ve definitely got artists that inspire me and as much as I love their sound I do want to develop my own style and have people recognise it eventually and sort of ‘claim’ my own role in the scene. As of currently I am definitely more confident with producing than I am with DJ’ing so I suppose the ultimate motivation at this point would be to have one of my tracks played by a big artist on some massive event/gig.

VU Any artists that inspire your work?
WNDRLST: Rebekah, Paula Temple, Dax J, Ansome, Perc, Ghost in the Machine - there are too many to list here, as long as its dark and industrial I’ll find bits and pieces in their tracks that draw my attention.

VU: How do you find your tracks? 
WNDRLST: Some of my friends DJ/Produce, we share tracks quite often and if not that, I’d plan in an evening to browse Soundcloud and usually end up with a good tracklist by the end of the evening.

VU: What software/hardware do you use? 
WNDRLST: Currently FL Studio 20 - picking up my first hardware piece soon, so after that a mixture of Ableton Live/FL Studio.

VU: Anything to add?
WNDRLST:Firstly, thanks for the opportunity and a thank you to whoever have listened to the mix - greatly appreciated. I’ve also just released my first EP named “Path of Destruction” including 4 dark techno tracks which you’ll be able to find on my Soundcloud profile. Currently no gigs planned although I am attending a couple of competitions which could potentially lead to claiming a spot in a line-up somewhere, therefore I would like to ask for any of you to give me a follow or drop me some feedback in general - constantly willing to improve.
