For Brooklyn duo Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett, AKA @beaconmusicnyc, dance music goes deeper than the somatic - it’s also an invitation to explore the labyrinthine potential of the cerebral. “We’ve always been drawn to abstract brush strokes in dance music,” they say, speaking toward how each mix of music is approached as if composing an artwork. “We used this mix for PLAYY. to reference some leftfield influences that were filtering into our writing: microtonality (“Meshwork” by Brendan Rincon), EBM, and drone.” The journey they take us on reflects these influences, shifting through “passages of tighter mixing, moments of pause and also some vinyl-only selects from our collection. Look out for music from our latest album, Along the Lethe, as well as brand new remixes we just dropped including Kölsch’s take on “Pay My Debts” and Midori Hirano’s remix of “Ostrich” feat. Colin Stetson.”

FF002 performer @stefanostev was born and raised in a breathtaking city by the name of Ancona, which sits peacefully between the hills and the sea along the Italian Coast. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that the gifted multi-instrumentalist and producer has developed a visceral sound that is perfect for daydreaming.
