This track is inspired by my time immersed in South Asian Acappella. South Asian Acappella is an ever growing expression of identity for young Indian Americans. It definitely shaped my music awareness/perspective and gave me some of my most cherished friends. The mix here is an eclectic mix of Bad Bunny, reggaeton, and two teams from the South Asian Acappella scene in the US: University of Michigan Maize Mirchi (@maize-mirchi) w/ their cover of O...Saya, and Case Western Reserve University Dhamakapella (@dhamakapella) with their cover of Khwaja Mere Khwaja. The final choral sample after that is Scandinavian in origin, sung by a Polish group (Laboratorium Pieśni). So yea um... tagged it as 'World' lol.

Fun Facts:

Maize Mirchi recently competed in the ICCA 2020 Great Lakes Quarterfinals and placed Second, showcasing South Asian Acappella to a wider American audience. 

Dhamakapella recently released Fitoor, an interesting album both in terms of production and arrangement, and their cover of Khwaja Mere Khwaja is sampled here.

The cash register effect at 0:54 was a reference to Paper Planes, featured in the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire (O...Saya).

Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease your ability to function at work and at home.

I have experienced this mental health diorder myself a few years ago. I would feel numb, lost my apetite and would often cry myself to sleep. I would get panic attacks and severe rounds of anxiety. There is often a stigma attached to mental health issues and its often swept under the carpet. It is perfectly "normal" to suffer from this disorder and it should be "normal" to talk about it. This track is reflective of my journey battling depression which depicts the onset of this disorder and the subsequent suffering and a cry for help leading to getting the help to battle it out and surviving.
