
This “Grassroots” album project has really meant a lot to me.
I consider it a great honor and privilege to be asked by Veteran Sound System owner Mr. Victor “Tipper” Henry of Tipper Tone Music, to embark on this great project in tribute of Studio One. Thank you so much for having the confidence in me to pursue this journey. I truly enjoyed every moment working on this remarkable project with all the seasoned, legendary musicians who have paved the way for me to become a part of this incredible music vibration called Reggae.
 
 Every track on this album was uniquely and methodically planned out and structured to fit the crevices and contours of these inspirational and harmonic melodies, which were created by musical heroes. I give thanks to the higher powers for the inspiration and the ability to be able to utilize this platform and this art form to express my concealed thoughts on theses vinyl canvases. Words surely would elude me if I was to express my all.
 
The only way for me to conclude this expression of inner thoughts is by gracefully thanking all those who are and were involved with this awesome explanation of human ingenuity: Family, Friends, Fans, DJ's, Players of Instruments, Engineers...Respect!

Upon graduation from the Edna Manley School for the Visual Arts, Michael received an exchange student music scholarship to Temple University in Philadelphia, where he enrolled in their piano and vocal programs. “That was the springboard I needed to pursue my future career” said Michael. While studying, he worked as an art therapist with delinquent children at the West Philadelphia Consortium. After his sojourn in Philadelphia, he migrated to Canada and was quickly able to find his niche. Through the influence of Dennis Brown, Michael Thompson aka "Visionary" nurtured his vocal style as a reggae singer, linking it with his background in gospel and R&B music. The result is a one of a kind sound from an energetic performer. It did not take long for the Reggae scene to recognize this gifted vocalist whose musical style is a blend of hard-core conscious lyrics and the cool vibes of lover’s rock reggae.
 
In between writing and singing uplifting music, Michael has also written a book entitled The Hidden Agenda of Reggae Music;. This book is for music enthusiasts of all genres of music, and people from all walks of life. It's intriguing, educational, humorous and factual. It's an eye opening, jaw dropping novel about the music industry more so, Reggae Music. No one has ever brought these explicit details to the forefront, to inform the world at large of the many Hidden Agendas within this industry. Q. What was the inspiration for this song?

A. The 2012 Olympics games watching the Jamaican Men’s Sprint Team come 1st, 2nd and 3rd, that was the birth of the song. Now, 4 years later it is an official tribute to the Jamaican team for their great success in their Olympic endeavors and the hopes that they will be able to ‘Tun it Up’ in 2016.

The Biography of  Visionary a.k.a Michael Thompson

A clear, distinct, and specific vision of the future, by definition, is Visionary.
Dubbed “an artist to watch” and “the next big artist out of Canada”, Mr. Michael Thompson is Visionary. With his angelic voice, Visionary shines light on the words of the Father, with inspiration from His greatness.
Michael Thompson is a native of St. Catherine, Jamaica, from a district known as High Gate. At an early age Michael's talent was recognized and propelled his journey into music. “The Heavenly Charmers” was a gospel quintet comprised of Michael and his four siblings. The group would perform at churches and events in Jamaica.
Michael attended Edna Manley College for Visual & Performing Arts, where he would earn a music scholarship to attend Temple University. During this time Michael focused on piano and vocal studies. In addition, Michael worked at The West Philadelphia Consortium. At the Consortium, Michael worked with young delinquents, helping them to see a better path for the future.
Canada would be the next destination for the aspiring artist. Michael immigrated to Canada and continued his musical journey, inspired to greatness, writing and recording original songs.
Visionary continues to write inspirational lyrics, sharing his melodious voice, uplifting listeners worldwide with conscious relevant music. The support of family and fans, as well as a strong management team, has brought Michael to where he is today, singer, songwriter, and author.

The debut album “Brace Yourself”, produced by Studio One legend, Willi Williams, was well received worldwide. Radio stations and press from Africa, the United States, and Canada helped to expand Visionary’s listening audience significantly. Visionary’s passion for producing authentic sounds has rewarded him with 3 nominations in 2008, and 2 nominations in 2009 by the Canadian Reggae Music Awards. Saturday September 22, 2012 Visionary received Top Male Singer Award for 2011-2012 at Uprising Entertainment Productions “Youth in Progress Talent Award Showcase”.
