ਸੂਰਬੀਰਾ ਸਜੇ ਘੋਰ ਬਾਜੇ ਬਜੇ ਭਾਜ ਕੰਤਾ ਸੁਣੇ ਰਾਮ ਆਏ ॥
Soorabeeraa Saje Ghora Baaje Baje Bhaaja Kaantaa Sune Raam Aaee ॥
The warriors are decorating themselves and the horrible battle-drums are resounding, O my husband ! You may flee for your safety because Ram has arrived

ਬਾਲ ਮਾਰਯੋ ਬਲੀ ਸਿੰਧ ਪਾਟਯੋ ਜਿਨੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਸੌ ਬੈਰਿ ਕੈਸੇ ਰਚਾਏ ॥
Baala Maarayo Balee Siaandha Paattayo Jini Taahi Sou Bairi Kaise Rachaaee ॥
He who has killed Bali, who has splitted the sea and created the passage, why have you created enmity with him?

ਬਯਾਧ ਜੀਤਯੋ ਜਿਨੈ ਜੰਭ ਮਾਰਯੋ ਉਨੈ ਰਾਮ ਅਉਤਾਰ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥
Bayaadha Jeetyo Jini Jaanbha Maarayo Aunai Raam Aautaara Soeee Suhaaee ॥
He, who has killed Byadh and Jambasur, it is the same power, which has manifested itself as Ram

ਦੇ ਮਿਲੋ ਜਾਨਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਹੈ ਸਿਆਨ ਕੀ ਚਾਮ ਕੇ ਦਾਮ ਕਾਹੇ ਚਲਾਏ ॥੩੮੦॥
De Milo Jaankee Baata Hai Siaan Kee Chaam Ke Daam Kaahe Chalaaee ॥380॥

Bhai Avtar Singh and Bhai Gurcharan Singh are considered a live-wire between the music of the era of the great ten gurus and the modern day Sikh community and the World. Bhai Avtar Singh and Bhai Gurcharan Singh have been asserting that the original “Gurmat Sangeet” prevalent during the times of the “Ten Sikh Great Gurus was “Dhrupad” based “Gurmat Sangeet” and the “Kirtan Chowkis” during the times of the gurus were invariably performed in “Dhrupad” and “Dhamar” styles.

Khag Khand Bihandan

The Indian Sanskrit name for this raga is Kalyan and the Persian is Yuman. In the Ragmala, Kalian is the son of Dipak while today it is the head of the Kalian thata. It is performed during the first part of the night and is considered a blessing bringing all good into one's life. Guru Ram Das and Guru Arjan composed 23 hymns to this raga. The texts exalt the far-reaching and all-pervading power of the Lord. In the Holy Book the only raga variant given is Bhopali (Bhupali).

Whatever I wish in my mind, by that with Thy Grace

ਸਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਸੋ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਰਨ ਭੀਤਰ ਜੂਝਿ ਮਰੋ ਕਹਿ ਸਾਚ ਪਤੀਜੈ ॥
If I fall a martyr while fighting with my enemies then I shall think that I have realised Truth

ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਜਗ ਮਾਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰ ਸ੍ਯਾਮ ਇਹੈ ਵਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੧੯੦੦॥
O Sustainer of the Universe! I may always help the saints in this world and destroy the tyrants, bestow this boon on me.1900.
