When it comes to legends in the glitch-hop game, Spoonbill is at the top of the list. That's why it was so easy to find the perfect remixer for another legend, Sizzla, one of the most successful reggae artists of all time.

As part of the fourth in a series of remix EPs for Sizzla's Born a King, Jim Moynihan puts an infectiously funky spin on "Champion Sound" that injects a blistering load of bass into the original, and whips it around on a syncopated string. The reworking bounces with ferocity, and fans are going to scramble for the release when it drops September 9th.

Like the forgotten soundtrack to an overcast day, "Going Down" by Hungarian producer AMB seeks to explore an inner restlessness in the listener. A perfect storm of downtempo, techno, RnB, and future bass vibes permeate this seven track EP, acting as the perfect illustration of this songwriter's diverse skill set. Moody strings are interwoven with shadowy bass laid bare on a bedrock of intelligent percussion, setting up a tender yet climatic atmosphere for the album. Toward the end of the journey, legendary bass music producer The Widdler flips "Night Slide" into a highly emotive excursion through future garage, concluding things in a fitting fashion. The entire release is available as a free/pay-what-you-want download via Gravitas Recordings, marking a sense of AMB's gratitude toward his fans as well as life itself.

By now you will have heard me raving on about Grouch on facebook. For me, and many others, he is one of the true masters of psychedelic music, and a hugely inspiring character! I got to spend a couple of days with him when I was in Australia earlier this year, and we played around on our laptops, producing as many cool sounds as we could in the time we had. After this, we went home and each produced a track using those sounds as the basis. This is my version, and it will be coming out on Broken Robot in December 2012. Grouch's version will be coming out sometime in 2013, i'll keep you posted!
