Heaven is empty but full of stars

When Glenn Miller's swingy In the Mood meets Bach's counterpoint, magic happens. A short playful piece based on motives from In the Mood and Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Written as an almost double fugue with all sorts of delicate techniques: parallel tritones, weird modulations, deformed themes, inadequate inversions, wrong sequences, too short expositions etc.

In the Fugue

My fugue in C minor recorded on organ in a small city Adamov (Czech Republic) during The Night of Churches 2020.

The theme is serendipitously suitable for a long and tight stretto (0:56) and also renders quite nicely in retrograde (0:41).

The tempo should be faster, but this version is adjusted for the church acoustics.
