When two house music veterans join forces on Viva Recordings for some music action, you know you've got something special. And that's certainly the case with "You Got Something," the first of a two-part single from San Francisco keyboard and studio legend Sen-Sei (Delve Deeper, Nervous) and renowned DJ-turned-producer HUGEhands (AKA James Durant — i Records, Sound Vessel). The pair have come together for a slinky, late-night deep house charmer full of left-coast vibes, dubby flavors, and solid musicianship. A punchy rhythm-and-bass track leads the dancefloor on a journey through affecting vocal hooks, echoed sax riffs, and intricately layered keyboard sections. Col Lawton (Deep Fix Recordings) slips into the collab with a spacious remix of "You Got Something," blending dreamy effects and flourishes with the original's melodic craft. The result is a tad jazzier while gliding further into the deep side, eventually sprinkled with a floor-lifting acid bass line. Both sides of this single are sure to become DJ staples, soon to be accompanied by the release of Part 2.

This wasn't just any festival, it was a family reunion of the beautiful, weird, and supportive community that the Shameless crew has built and become known for over the past 20 years. It was an absolute honor to get down with so many of my friends, fellow DJs, peers, and mentors.

The formidable pair known as Glass Slipper — Brad Eller and Lisa Cork-Twiss — continues to delve into their varied sonic roots for a unique perspective on dance music, ably transmitted on their fantastic new single for Viva Recordings, "Money Can't."

A product of Houston’s music scene, Lisa's early forays into music brought her to the Eurodance group Real McCoy from 1996 to 1998. Brad forged his own path, cutting his teeth as a DJ during San Francisco’s famed house music explosion in the early 2000s. After graduating from mixing records to live performance, Brad began making studio-based productions before moving to Austin. Then Brad read a 2013 interview with Lisa and reached out to her for a remote collaboration. The two realized they resided in the same area. It wasn’t long before this combination of voice and production led to the formation of Glass Slipper. Acclaimed singles for Oh So Coy, Large Music, Quantize, Foliage Records, and others have followed.

"Money Can't" is an exhilarating gourmet of uplifting house music. The classic elements of punchy four-on-the-floor rhythm, staccato piano chords, and bouncing sub-bass are all here in force, accented by spacious synthesizer textures and a rousing, soulful vocal from Lisa Cork-Twiss. The track builds mightily, its message of "money can't buy love" primed to bring the dancefloor together in a shared celebration of beats and melody. Duwayne Motley's house music bona fides have few equals. Over the years, the prolific Charleston-based DJ and producer created exceptional sounds for the likes of Salted, King Street Sounds, Glasgow Underground, and quite a few more. "Come Get Me," Duwayne's 2009 release on Nervous Records upped the ante, receiving much acclaim and being selected for Nervous Records' best of compilation, Nervous House 20, mixed by CJ Mackintosh. Viva Recordings was among those who took notice and released Duwayne Motley's collaboration with Zandrina, "Gave Up On Love," in 2021.

Now Duwayne returns to Viva for an exhilarating house music statement, "Saturday Night." A chunky four-on-the-floor club bounce leads to sparkling layers of keys, strings, and staccato plucks as an uplifting vocal, once again from Zandrina, praises the virtues of Saturday night. This one is pure disco dynamite, beaming energy straight to the dancefloor in the form of percussive laser fills. Duwayne has also handily provided a Dub that takes the groove into deeper realms, looping and filtering the main keys while building the other elements smoothly on top. This one's a definite future staple for weekend peak time.

Mermaid is the lead off single from the upcoming "Datamusikk" EP on Beatservice in June.

Oslo-based Boblebad aka Ulf Moen Denneche returns to Beatservice Records with his latest EP, Datamusikk. Having released a succession of standout singles, EPs, and albums across the past three years for the fellow Norwegian label, Boblebad serves up a cosmic whirlwind of polychromatic bliss with this latest four-track EP. Plotting a course through radiant funk, enchanting oddities, red light basement flavours, and cosmic disco it's a voyage of vibrance from the prolific multi-instrumentalist.

A true creative at heart, Boblebad is at home conveying ideas and emotion through the medium of visual art as he is crafting groove-laden sonic textures. Over the years his productions have found homes on respected dance music labels such as Badabing, Paper Recordings, and Full Pupp, with Beatservice becoming a favoured outlet for his genre-traversing creations.

Opening the EP, top-down cruising the solar highways, "Mermaid" layers sweeping synths with juiced-up basslines as young jazz singer Guro showcases a celestial debut of vocal prowess. Ethereal textures, dreamscape dynamics, this is the soundtrack to summer you never knew you needed.

Stomping through the dunes, the title track, "Datamusikk," follows. A squelched-up symphony of crunched gated snares, chugging bass, and desert rock guitar licks. Deep, powerful and alluring its grooves suck you in further with every second that passes.

Take to the flip for a dose of hypnotic, machine-melding stabs and Detroit-flavoured late-night feelings in the form of "You Got Me." A world of textural percussive hits and robot-infused Arps that deliver a commanding presence on the dancefloor.

Rounding off the EP, "Couchsurfer" exhibits Boblebad's future-facing, acid-tinged cosmic disco. Martian music with a human soul, modulating synth touches and a tantalising bassline floating out across the ether.

Four kinetic cuts that demonstrate the range and dynamism of Boblebad's productions for one of Norway's most consistent labels.

Viva Recordings found success with its first debut from Johnny Fiasco and the with Rick Preston's Altruism EP, which gained notoriety when "Spring Fling" was featured on Mark Farina's San Francisco Sessions Vol.1. From these early releases the road was paved for Viva Recordings' success. Over the last few years we have been working on personal projects but now have decided to bring the label back and take the Viva name back.
