Bringing the heat on this next one, it’s a super-hot collab from Toolroom’s own Matt Smallwood & producer Ali Wilson who land with heavy hitter ‘Canadian Geese’. When Matt Smallwood isn’t heading the A&R department at Toolroom, he’s dropping killer productions like his recent remix of Artemesia 'Bits & Pieces' garnering support in all corners of the globe including Dombresky, Chris Lake, and Mark Knight to name a few. Of course, both Ali & Matt have been making records together for over 15 years, you know that ‘Canadian Geese’ is a track that’ll ignite any dance floor.

For Ali Wilson however, it’s a Trax debut as he comes off the back of releasing a full-blown artist album on Untidy Trax called 'Tabula Rasa'. Together, the duo are diving into the tougher, club focused side of House with this HUGE collaboration – ‘Canadian Geese’. Andrew Meller has been on an incredible run of form recently having smashed the Beatport charts with his remakes of classic tracks such as Faithless' 'Insomnia' and the all-time holy grail of Underworld 'Born Slippy'. His talents do not stop there though, he proves here that he is more than capable of penning some serious underground sounds as he delivers 'Godfathers Dance' and 'Honey'.

'Godfathers Dance' leads the charge here and has been a secret weapon in label boss Nic Fanciulli's sets for time now. This bubbles along really nicely with a warm and funky bass line, some lush, tribal percussion and some great horn additions that really add to that dance floor energy. 'Honey' on the flip is more menacing in it's delivery with a sinister synth pattern and a tough drum workout for those slightly tougher floors.

Italian native Fabio Neural teams up with growing Columbian talent DJ Fronter on the Brr Baby Brr EP. Soon to be released on Hot Creations, the three-track release is a contemporary house affair that shows the natural chemistry between the two.

Leading with Brr Baby Brr, a driving kick is soon complemented by whistling hats, before a teasing synth build up gives way to a pummelling bass driven drop. Silver Star comes in next with a reverberating vocal sample that’s underlined by a subtly changing bassline and warm, building pads, before Downtown rounds off the EP with a harder techno tone as punchy lead kicks meld with choppy, non-apologetic keys.

Having produced music since 2010, it was last year that Fabio Neural really caught the ground running with releases on two of modern house music’s leading labels: Relief and Saved. This year has been followed up with Brr Baby Brr, his standout release of 2019 and his first release on Hot Creations. DJ Fronter is one of Columbia’s most prominent artists. Having previously performed for the Resistance party brand his DJ sets speak for themselves, whilst his knack for producing has seen him release on labels like Circus and Nervous.

Started in October 2006 by Steve Lawler, VIVa Music began life as a conduit for the internationally renowned DJ and Producer to release the wealth of underground music he encountered on his travels. Having previously handled the now-classic and traditional vinyl label Harlem Records, Lawler decided VIVa was to be a forward thinking outlet for quality music and boldly announced that VIVa was to be digital only. As well as a clear mission to look towards the future of the music industry, this was a step to ensure that music could be released quickly and retain the freshness that the labels A&R was struck by. Far from the template set out by many of Lawler's contemporaries, VIVa quickly established itself as a label where artists could be themselves and write music that isn't defined by just A&R, but by one simple guideline: Quality. This has meant the label has gone on to release music from a wide range artists, from major players like Lawler and Audiofly through to burgeoning talent like Livio & Roby and Nicole Moudaber. In keeping with an ever evolving outlook, 2009 will see VIVa further transformed. Worldwide tour nights, Festival Arena, International Residency's and a new UK based residency at the legendary Ministry of Sound in London are just the tip of the iceberg. Always ones to buck trends, the VIVa family are pressing vinyl again alongside it's digital output as well as expanding its roster of relatively unknown talent rather than rely on the tried and tested.
