Music and Prayer is a collaboration of a different kind.Many a times musicians jam up and magic happens,but it doesnt get captured.This moment happened one evening between me,pratik srivastav (sarod) and sabiha khan (singer). With the help of a looper and sampling the sarod and percussions ,made the foundation of the track.All the effects you hear was done live.The vibe and the feeling that we went through is what is captured here.

Munyati literally means “You, whom I yearn for”. It’s an excerpt from Sayed Darwish’s ‘muwashshah’; an Arabic form of poetic composition. In this song, Vivek Rajagopalan blends Middle Eastern and Indian Music using Indian instruments such as mridangam, chenda, Indian violin and bass. Georges Nehme lends his soulful voice, which flows seamlessly throughout the track. Sanskrit chants at the end building into a crescendo, the song ends with a feeling of mystique and longing.

Lucid - The Mystery

Viveick is a musician and composer, straddling both worlds with equal ease. Trained under the Carnatic tradition on the majestic percussive instruments mridangam and kanjira, Viveick uses his classical roots to compose music that moves between many styles. His music is stamped with this unique sound, reflecting his influences from electronic, drum-n-bass to jazz and folk.
His ability and determined diligence to retain the unique flavour of Indian music while seamlessly integrating it into his collaborations and performance, is unmatched among many other musicians of his time.

His work has won him several awards, from the Most Mind Blowing Music Video Award at AVIMA in 2009 for ‘Snake in the City’, to Best Folk Fusion Artist Award at the Radio City – Freedom Radio Awards in 2013 for his single ‘Quest’.

Over nearly 2 decades as performer and composer, Viveick has toured and collaborated with musicians from all over the world. 

He performed at the International Jazz Festival ‘96, Thailand, at the age of 18, along with Dinshaw Sanjana and a host of talented Jazz artists.

He represented India at the Commonwealth Concert Tour in 2002 with Music director, Courtney Pine and other well-known musicians from the Commonwealth nations.

At the 2003 Jazz Yatra, Viveick performed with Ragatronik, consisting of World Music stalwarts Bugge Wesseltoft, Shri (Badmarsh & Shri), Per Martinsen and Dhruba Ghosh.

In 2009, he was invited to perform at the prestigious, Les Suds a Arles in France for a special showcase with his band. His collaborations have spanned musicians of many generations, from Richard Bona with whom he performed and recorded on the album Ten Shades of Blue, SHRI and Bauchklang on the album Live in Mumbai, to younger generation artists such as, the UK beat boxing phenomenon Shlomo and Bulgarian folk artist Djaima.

Among these was, In Place of War, a special project by University of Manchester that saw him collaborating with artists from Africa (Joel Sebunjo), Nepal (Kiran Nepali), Brazil (Os Nelsons) and British artists John McClure, Louis Barabbas and Hey Moonshaker. The project showcased at three major festivals - Bestival, Festival No.6 and Shambala Festival in 2013,UK

Viveick is also part of the OK World Ensemble, curated by Bugge Wesseltoft, a World Music project produced by Oslo World Music Festival. The ensemble features Bugge Wesseltoft, SHRI, Viveick Rajagopalan, Khaled Yassine, Amadeu Cossa and Josemi Carmona and has toured India, Bangladesh, Spain, Germany, Norway, South Africa, Mozambique and Lebanon. 
He has two albums to his credit, Dancing with Shiva and Moving Images, released in 2007 and 2008 respectively. In the last few years he has released 5 singles from his cross-cultural collaborative album Music Prayer Rhythm People, which features artists from India, Greece and Lebanon.

Viveick continues to perform, compose, record and collaborate. His studio in the heart of a Mumbai suburb is the seat for all his musical expeditions.
