ZELURE

I've always really connected with some of Shostakovich's chamber works, especially some of the more jarring, pissed off movements from his string quartets. Just really hit that sweet spot for me of being expressive, idiosyncratic, with lots of individual personality. Anyway this composition is very much inspired by that style. Not the first or last time I've written something inspired by his general "vibe." Hope you enjoy!

Echotypy - "Just for Love"

The only sound source here is my stratocaster with signal splitted to acoustic guitar soundhole magnetic pickup (which I played with my right hand as a pick/slide/ebow). Both signals went through Boss Line Selector, then some fuzz and for a short time my old Yamaha octaver. Last on the signal chain was Warm Audio Ring modulator which was mainly off. 

I composed a piece which has overlayered 1-3 tracks simultaniously. No post effects in DAW. For percussive parts and coda I played the springs of vibrato system. Those I miked with this magnetic acoustic guitar pickup.

I uploaded some of my music to Suno and experimented with the cover feature. I noticed Suno performs best with conventional melody/harmony as in my tune “Wise Owl.”

1. Generated ~60 cover variations of Wise Owl in different styles.
2. Selected fragments that reasonably approximated the reference melody and harmony (mostly Latin jazz, salsa, fusion, funk, third stream, rock.)
3. Used Lalal.ai to create instrument, bass, drum, and percussion stems.
4. Applied Melodyne for surgical melodic and harmonic fixes where feasible.
5. Sequenced edited stems in Reason, adding pads to smooth transitions.
6. Interesting behavior: Suno treated the first chorus of the guitar solo as material for a brass soli / sprechstimme-style passage (2:03).
7. Light mastering (EQ, compression, limiter).

Conclusion
I'm impressed with the results. The violin and guitar inflections are uncannily accurate, enough to make me wonder if they came from commercial recordings, though the tune’s conventional melody/harmony likely made them easy for Suno to approximate.
