“Mari kita mulai dengan meneliti masakan khas dari kampung halaman kita.”

Sepulang sekolah, keduanya pergi ke perpustakaan daerah. Mereka mencari buku yang merangkum sejarah dan latar belakang masakan daerah sambil meneliti hidangan yang diwariskan di wilayah mereka.

“Di daerah kita, hidangan seperti Kenchin-jiru dan Gohei-mochi tampaknya terkenal. Katanya sudah ada sejak zaman Edo.”

“Gohei-mochi ya… Aku ingat pernah memakannya di festival waktu kecil. Tapi kenapa Kenchin-jiru disebut ‘Kenchin’?”

“Itu karena berasal dari sebuah kuil Zen. Namanya dari kuil Kencho-ji, dan merupakan bagian dari masakan vegetarian Buddhis.”

“Oh begitu. Jadi itulah sebabnya tidak memakai daging. Kalau dipikir-pikir, orang dulu benar-benar menghargai makanan.”

“Ada banyak cara untuk menghindari pemborosan, dan menggunakan sayuran musiman itu luar biasa. Hei, bagaimana kalau kita coba membuatnya sendiri?”

“Membuatnya? Kedengarannya seru.”

Pada akhir pekan, keduanya berdiri di dapur. Dengan resep di tangan, Kanon memimpin sementara Haruto memotong dan mencampur bahan-bahan.

“Ukuran lobak ini sudah pas?”
“Iya, pas sekali. Haruto, ternyata kamu cukup pandai memasak.”

“Aku sering membuat nasi goreng. Tapi Kenchin-jiru ternyata cukup mudah.”

“Ya. Kuncinya adalah mengeluarkan rasa alami dari bahan-bahan.” Kanon menutup tutup panci. “Selanjutnya, mari kita buat Gohei-mochi. Cukup tumbuk nasi yang sudah dimasak lalu tambahkan saus manis-asin. Sepertinya mudah.”

Saat hidangan selesai, keduanya tampak puas. Uap mengepul dari Kenchin-jiru, dan aroma gurih Gohei-mochi memenuhi ruangan.

“Kelihatannya tidak buruk.” Haruto menggigit Gohei-mochi. “Wah, ini enak sekali!”

“Resep yang dibuat sejak lama memang sederhana, tapi rasanya dalam sekali.”

Hari presentasi Ujian Berpasangan

“Masakan daerah mengandung iklim dan sejarah wilayahnya. Misalnya, Kenchin-jiru dimulai sebagai masakan kuil, tetapi kini dinilai kembali sebagai hidangan sehat yang memanfaatkan sayuran tanpa pemborosan.”

“Gohei-mochi juga sama. Awalnya muncul sebagai makanan awetan di daerah pegunungan, tetapi sekarang disukai di festival dan tempat wisata. Dengan benar-benar membuat hidangan ini sendiri, kami merasakan kecerdikan dalam menggunakan bahan secara bijak dan menyentuh kebijaksanaan orang-orang di masa lalu.”

“Masakan daerah bukan hanya tradisi—itu adalah gudang pengetahuan yang dapat memperkaya kehidupan modern kita. Kami berharap lebih banyak orang menikmatinya di masa depan.”

Dalam perjalanan pulang, berjalan melewati rerumputan pampas yang bergoyang tertiup angin musim gugur, keduanya berbincang.

Tawa mereka larut ke langit senja. Melalui cita rasa kampung halaman, mereka merasakan hubungan misterius antara masa lalu dan masa depan.

11. Tes pasangan canon dan Haruto dan masakan lokal



Le devoir pour le Test en binôme était : « Recherchez la cuisine locale et son histoire, et réfléchissez à la manière dont elle peut être appliquée à l’époque moderne. »

« Commençons par rechercher les plats locaux de notre ville natale. »

Après l’école, les deux se sont rendus à la bibliothèque locale. Ils ont cherché des livres résumant l’histoire et le contexte de la cuisine régionale tout en examinant les plats transmis dans leur région.

« Dans notre région, des plats comme le Kenchin-jiru et le Gohei-mochi semblent célèbres. Ils existent depuis la période Edo. »

« Le Gohei-mochi, hein. Je me souviens en avoir mangé lors des festivals quand j’étais petit. Mais pourquoi le Kenchin-jiru s’appelle-t-il ‘Kenchin’ ? »

« Parce qu’il est originaire d’un temple zen. Il vient du temple Kencho-ji et faisait partie de la cuisine végétarienne bouddhiste. »

« Je vois. C’est donc pour cela qu’il n’utilise pas de viande. En y pensant, les gens d’autrefois valorisaient vraiment la nourriture. »

« Il y a tant de façons d’éviter le gaspillage, et utiliser des légumes de saison est merveilleux. Hé, si on essayait vraiment de le préparer ? »

« Le préparer ? Ça a l’air amusant. »

Le week-end, les deux étaient dans la cuisine. Avec la recette en main, Kanon dirigeait tandis que Haruto coupait et mélangeait les ingrédients.

« Cette taille pour le daikon, ça va ? »
« Oui, c’est parfait. Haruto, tu es plutôt doué en cuisine. »

« Je faisais souvent du riz sauté. Mais le Kenchin-jiru est étonnamment facile. »

« Oui. Le secret est de faire ressortir la saveur naturelle des ingrédients. » dit Kanon en fermant le couvercle de la marmite. « Ensuite, faisons le Gohei-mochi. Il suffit d’écraser le riz cuit et d’ajouter une sauce sucrée-salée. Ça semble simple. »

Lorsque les plats furent terminés, les deux affichaient un air satisfait. La vapeur s’élevait du Kenchin-jiru, et l’arôme savoureux du Gohei-mochi emplissait la pièce.

« Ça n’a pas l’air mauvais. » Haruto prit une bouchée de Gohei-mochi. « Waouh, c’est vraiment délicieux ! »

« Les recettes créées il y a longtemps sont simples, mais elles ont une saveur profonde. »

Le jour du Test en binôme

« La cuisine locale contient le climat et l’histoire de sa région. Par exemple, le Kenchin-jiru a commencé comme cuisine de temple, mais aujourd’hui il est réévalué comme un plat sain qui utilise les légumes sans gaspillage. »

« Le Gohei-mochi est similaire. Il est né comme aliment de conservation dans les régions montagneuses, mais il est désormais apprécié lors des festivals et dans les lieux touristiques. En préparant réellement ces plats, nous avons expérimenté l’ingéniosité d’utiliser les ingrédients avec sagesse et touché la sagesse des gens du passé. »

« La cuisine locale n’est pas seulement une tradition — c’est un trésor de connaissances qui peut enrichir notre vie moderne. Nous espérons que davantage de personnes l’apprécieront à l’avenir. »

Sur le chemin du retour, en marchant près des herbes de la pampa qui se balançaient dans le vent d’automne, les deux parlèrent.
« Cuisiner des plats locaux ensemble donnait une étrange impression de nostalgie. »

Leurs rires se fondirent dans le ciel du soir. À travers les saveurs de leur ville natale, ils ressentirent une mystérieuse connexion entre le passé et l’avenir.
