Wave continues to push borders and boundaries in the electronic music sphere, and no one pushes the genre itself more than Sorsari. The highly anticipated ‘Patterns' EP further invigorates the scene with an energy and intensity meant for the club and the casual listener, alike. 

The EP opens to a warm, ethereal overture with ‘Dreamers’, as we are led into the more driving ‘Will We Ever’, which incorporates a crisp, hard-hitting drop, haunting snippets of vocal manipulation and rising bubbles of syncopated synths. Sorsari shows his versatility yet again with the third track, ‘Monster’, an eerie yet uplifting track that flows on pulsing bass drums and edited vocals. The forth and aptly-named title track, ‘Patterns’, brings the listener to a melancholy place, with overlapping melodic patterns flowing over a carefully laid-out wavescape. The EP takes a dark turn with ‘Flayed’, which showcases Wave's versatility, and incorporates techno and industrial-inspired elements. Sorsari then takes us back to a more classic Wave sound with ‘The Great Construct’ and ‘Closing The Tesseract’, which keeps the listener on edge with hypnotic synth lines, reverb-soaked vocal samples and infectious drum-beats. Fellow Wavemob member Deadcrow takes us home on a bass heavy journey with his remix of ‘The Great Construct’, which closes off the EP in epic proportion. 

With audible influences from across the electronic music spectrum, the ‘Patterns’ EP is one that will stay with listeners for a long time, as this talented producer showcases an emotional and versatile palette of sounds.

ONHELL's second EP on Terrorhythm lands - complete with feature from East London grime MC Trim.

Kill Your Self Doubt is the latest exploration of beats and bass from West Coast producer ONHELL, fresh off the back of an outing on Dubstep legend DJ Youngsta's label Sentry, where he featured on their recent compilation.

Featuring a vocal outing from Grime vet Trim, the EP gets straight down to business, a snarling bassline surrounded by Trim's trademark stuttering flow gives us a taste for what is to come, and things get deliciously weirder and more twisted as this one goes on.

With flashes of more bass influence dovetailing with some strong IDM influence, this is an EP that sets out to smash boundaries, and does so with force.

Words from ONHELL:

2018 was probably the worst year of my life. For a while there I was under the impression I was gonna go to prison for a good number of years. Luckily I swooped out of that situation and am on the come up. It's been a long road and music definitely took a big hit during that period in my life. I know some find inspiration within conflict, but in this case, making music confidently was really hard. This next release is my come back. Kill your self doubt is just a message I feel represents my mindset after all the turmoil and I hope it inspires more confidence in everyone's art.

ONHELL - Intuition

The third installment of Plastician's Wavepool series sees 33 tracks land on Terrorhythm, five years on from the initial mix that sparked conversation about the genre's potential.

Fast forward to 2020 and the sound and community surrounding "Wave" has grown and splintered into offshoots such as "Hardwave" which has seen the sound adopted by DJ's more likely to be found in huge concert stages than small dark basement venues. With community still at the heart of the sound, this compilation rings truer to the origins of the genre, with nods to the future, brighter end of the Wave scape throughout the compilation. Producers from 3 continents are represented - documenting the scene's growth way beyond the circles it one operated within. As the sound metamorphosises from URL to IRL, it's clear to hear how varied the style has become since the previous Wavepool outing in 2017, with Eastern Europe's flashes of Trance influence dancing in tandem with the UK's Grime and Garage influence, as well of course as the tried and tested foundations built on the USA's Trap rhythms and drum samples.

With the genre moving at a rapid pace, Plastician's ear for the smoother end of the sound keeps a tight grip on the majority of the selections in hand, but we are reminded of just how bright and colourful this genre can be with bursts of energy throughout the compilation - bringing a well rounded taster for any curious ears out there.

The Wave is certainly not just a classroom exercise....
