Si un label sait faire preuve de consistance sans aucun compromis c'est bel et bien ZamZam sounds. De la production à la sérigraphie, rien ne leur échappe et les plus grands noms de la scène mondiale sont passé par leurs établissement : Gregory Isaac, Alpha & Omega, Ishan Sound, RSD, Badawi, Macka B, Al Wootton, Junior Dread, El Mahdy Jr, Big Youth, Brendon Moeller, Johnny Clarke...

Depuis 2012, des sorties strictement vinyls en tirage limité, avec des galettes pressés aux petits oignons, du design à la presse, des pochettes sérigraphiées à la main via Polygon Press gérées par Tracy. Au-delà de ZamZam, ils dirigent également le label Khaliphonic qui explore des sonorités mondiales passées à la moulinette Dub comme Los Gaiteros De San Jacinto et leur cumbia ancestrale, l'ambient avec Sam Binga & Welfare et plus encore. Acteurs incontournable, ils font partie de cette grande famille qui inonde les ondes aux côtés de Bristol avec Dubkasm et Gorgon Sound, depuis Tokyo chez Disc Shop Zero ou Undefined, en France avec Von D et OBF.
C'est à Portland, Oregon que le QG et l'esprit de ce label est ancré. Issu du défunt label BSI (Bucolic Sound Investigations) tenu par Ezra aka E3 qui perpetue cet engagement au service du dub et de ses valeurs avec des artistes cultes tel Muslimgauze, King Jammy, Jah Warrior, Henry & Louis, The Rootsman...Le label s'éteint au milieu des années 2000 et c'est en 2012 il y a maintenant 10 ans que ZamZam est crée par Ezra et Tracy. Depuis, ce label est devenu incontournable, pourrait-on dire même crucial. En 2018, c'est au Telerama Dub Festival de Paris qu'ils se sont produits pour une dance accompagné du Sinaï Sound System. Les présent-e-s s'en rappellent encore !

Le label fêtera 10 ans d'activisme le 30 Juin au Outlook Festival avec un line-up incendiaire :

Rivière de Corps est le projet solo d'Adrien Clergeot, originaire de Troyes {dans l'Aube) et désormais basé à Strasbourg. Après avoir longtemps tourné avec le groupe Satellite, Adrien rassemble un matériel minimal (quelques synthés de vide-grenier, boîtes à rythme et pédales d'effet) et s'emploie à matérialiser une musique sombre, oppressante et dégradée, inspirée par les cultures fanzine, fantasy et un très grand nombre d'heures passées sur Quake.

Bulgarian dark mastermind MANASYt (Petar Tassev) has been rocking his own brand of Nurolektro since 2003. He’s responsible for a vast array of menacing titles on labels such as Touchin' Bass, Kommando 6, Musar and the infamous Bunker - along with about 40 others.
An artist that couldn’t care less about trends nor hypes, and whose main driving force is that authentic passion for the genre. 
Some of his tunes resemble a future horror movie score, others a visit to an asylum, but most sound like the soundtrack to an alien invasion.
Currently based in Xiamen, China.

This is the first mix of an upcoming serie, tribute to the 90’s Memphis rap.
I love so much that era of experimentations done in order to make the tracks darker and creepier using weird samples, minimal repetitive loops, inharmonics synths, slowed voices, 808 bass lines and crazy cowbell melodies.
I also enjoy it from an historical point of view as it had a huge influence on the Atlanta’s trap and dirty south’s sound, also on phonk, soundcloud rap and vaporwave.
Here’s one hour of timeless classics, from twisted devilish to gangsta wavy songs. Most of these come from tapes so the sound goes lo-fi af but you know that’s a whole mood.
