After a year of hardship and depression, I was finally able to input something creatively to express my breakthrough. It was difficult and long, but I am a better person because of what I have gone through. With the help of overdoze, I was able to output my experiences into music. Hopefully it's something you all will enjoy.

Aftermath

During the summer, I went through one of the worst bouts of anxiety I’d ever had, becoming terrified about the uncertainty of my future. After a month of barely sleeping, massive loss of appetite, feeling sick to my stomach every day and becoming afraid to work on music, I’ve only recently started to feel better fully and begun to seek professional help, but my fear of failure combined with my worries over my future life are still there.

I’m in the incredibly privileged position to be able to have chosen a university course and direction of study that interests me, and I want to make that count more than anything right now. Regardless of where I may end up, I’m throwing my whole weight behind my work, because I refuse to stop trying to turn the privilege I’ve been given into something that makes an impact on people, the same way that other’s creative work has impacted me forever.

Though it started as a way to finish off a year-old musical idea, ‘Gradual Confidence’ has become my way of at least trying to push through some of my fears. I hope that it brings some comfort to you too!
