Release Info: 
One of TAU’s core family members and an artist who we discovered and nurtured from day one, Innellea returns to the label. Over the last couple of years it’s been amazing to watch Innellea grow and succeed, with his music catching the attention of labels such as Innervisions, Diynamic
and Afterlife. Now he’s back with TAU, delivering a neat four-track package that represents his unique, melodic approach to electronic music. The Hypolation EP is another big stride forward for this artist, who continues to impress with his production prowess.

First up is ‘Returning Spaces’, which begins with a rather sombre atmosphere, stuttered beats and rumbling bass. Hushed vocals weave anemotional narrative, while the instrumental becomes increasingly emotive, Innellea building up the tension to great effect. This one runs at just over three minutes, but it packs plenty of feeling into that time.

Next is the title track, ‘Hypolation’, which demonstrates Innellea’s ability to inject raw feeling into his dance floor compositions. A myriad layers buzz and swirl around each other, cultivating an illuminating atmosphere from the start. Within seconds you’re locked in, riding the wavelengths
until you reach the dramatic breakdown. Innellea teases the main riff back in with dexterity, and we’re immersed in the second half of the cut, which maintains its adventurous spirit.

‘Pathological Passion’ could be an apt description of Innellea’s love for making music. This one has a steady beginning, leading into a solemn, melancholy melody. The emotionally-driven core gently unfurls to become all encompassing. Innellea really tells a story with this cut, switching
things up around the two-minute mark, before the energy of the first half returns in abundance.

Finally, ‘The Arrival’ takes us into the mystical depths of the Middle East, with Arabian rhythms and instrumentation. A euphoric, trance-esque breakdown guides us into more exotic programming, it’s warm, energising and life-affirming. A perfect demonstration of Innellea’s versatility and his desire  to channel a range of influences into his productions.

Loop Division

With recent releases for some of the scene’s leading labels, Fideles (aka Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti) are an Italian duo on the rise. Their spellbinding ‘Impressum’ EP is both a fine example of the Fideles sound and exactly in keeping with the direction Tale Of Us are steering their Afterlife label. Inspired by the Ionian sea in Southern Italy, low-pitched basslines and soaring synths give the tracks just the right amount of drama, whilst the rich sound-design allows them to make the most of a big system; something Tale Of Us have put to great use in their sets this year. Take the emotionally-charged title track, the rolling, mechanical drums of ‘Kalotypse’ or the more restrained ‘Hadar’. Across all five tracks Fideles’ character shines through the adventurous melodies and distinctive touch, creating an inspiring next episode of the Afterlife catalogue.

A storyline in which VNTM is providing track titles of which many are yet to be released, and it adds a new chapter to his imprint Apparition. “The Diva” ep is a solo offering with two original works that have been massively supported throughout the past year by the likes of Tale Of Us, Adriatique, Kevin de Vries and more.

“The Diva” is a track centered around a mysterious melody, evolving into rattling synth-work moving through the different rhythms incorporated in the record and showing a softer side to the more uptempo techno tracks we know from VNTM.

“Haunted” is the deeper half of the 2-sided EP, thrusting on a very melancholic break to take the listener away on a journey, reaching peak level when the melody moves up the scales and is sure to set a dramatic mood in every set!

VNTM’s “The Diva” EP will be out on Apparition on May 1st 2020.
