Do Whatcha Gotta Do

So this one is a bit of a mad track and initially I wasn’t going to release it to the world as the idea behind it was a bit out there and I made it back in 2023 straight after a solid month of meditating and doing yoga in India… but fuck it here it is…

A bit of a breakdown:

After my trip to India and being around different influences I came up with the idea of trying to make a suuuper chilled track, doing it around the chakra frequencies and incorporating some traditional Indian instruments, in this case a tanpura, as well as adding vibes I personally like. Most of the instruments, vocals or sounds in this track are EQ’d to their nearest frequency which relates to the chakras/energy points in the body. Obviously this is a bit loose, as with the fluctuating keys on the Fender Rhodes causing changes in frequency there is only so much you can do. Also, the frequency of the chakras only go as low as 396hz, this left a lot of room in the mids and low range of the track which would have no relation to anything… so incame the idea of playing with Schumann resonance… (if you’re still reading this fair play to you, you’re as nerdy as I am). So for those who don’t know, Schumann resonance is the frequency that the earth vibrates at, which is 7.83hz. Too low for the human ear to hear, but… then I came across something called the ‘Schumann scale’, again super low and could cater for some of the low end but I needed more low mid/mid range frequencies to work with so I transposed it up an octave and EQ’d the rest according to the related frequencies. So this was done along with cropping, incorporating and adding flavour to some vocals from a CD which came with a book that I purchased called ‘walking mediation’ and obviously I couldn’t avoid adding in the Fender Rhodes with a sprinkle of delay 👌🏼🎹🔈

So yeah, some pretty wild shit how this one came together! Anyways, it’s a proper chiller so be prepared, it’s the type of track you want to lay on the floor to hear! Good effort if you read this far and if you have… surely you’ve got to give it a listen! 🧘🏽‍♂️🔈
