Nächster Stopp: Berlin. Viel sind wir mit unserem Podcast mittlerweile herumgereist; jetzt machen wir mal wieder einen Halt in der Hauptstadt. Auf den Künstler unserer diesmaligen Podcast-Ausgabe wurden wir bereits letztes Jahr aufmerksam, als wir über die zweite Ausgabe seiner selbst begonnenen Set-Reihe „Tales Of A Dreamer“ stolperten. Beide Teile waren einfach total genial (und wie wir dann erfahren haben, sehr aufwändig) zusammengestellte Mixe, die tatsächlich einfach zum Entfliehen aus dem Alltag und Träumen einladen. Als dieses Jahr dann die dritte Ausgabe erschien, mussten wir einfach mit http://soundcloud.com/luishill in Kontakt treten und mit ihm über dieses ungewöhnliche Konzept reden. Das Besondere an Luis ist, dass er, was seinen Sound angeht, absolut wandelbar ist. Während er in seinen „Dreamer“-Sets wirklich extrem chillig und entspannt daher kommt, dreht er live auch gerne mal ein bisschen auf, was man auch seinen anderen Podcast-Beiträgen anhört. Dabei ist der junge Mann ziemlich umtriebig. Internationale Bookings unter anderem in Spanien, der Schweiz und den Niederlanden lassen ihn ganz schön herum kommen und ansonsten verbringt er seine meiste Zeit gerade in Rotterdam um dort seinen Master zu beenden. Trotzdem bleibt er seiner Heimatstadt treu und ist jeden Monat mehrfach in Berlin anzutreffen und spielt dort unter anderem öfter im Ritter Butzke. Nebenbei produziert er auch noch selbst. Umso mehr freut es uns daher, dass er sein beim Interview gegebenes Versprechen, unseren Podcast mit seinem Beitrag zu bereichern, auf so eindrucksvolle Weise eingehalten hat.

Denn das Set ist ein mehr als gelungener Querschnitt durch die oben genannte Bandbreite seines Sounds. Ruhig und träumerisch bis hin zu fast etwas düster aber auch druckvoll und streckenweise technoid-clubbig. Das alles bekommt man nicht in einem Set unter? Oh doch. Überzeugt euch selbst!

It’s a great pleasure for me to announce Aaristos as new guest wizz, the Germany-based DJ with Greek roots, who is a true magician in blending the typically German ethereal electronic sounds with the peerless depths of Greek mysticism.  When listening to this set for the first time, my mind slowly drifted away to the Meteora region in North-West Greece, with its unique complex of ancient monasteries perched on top of giant rock formations (some of which tower 400 meters above the surrounding valley).  In the 9th century, the first ascetic hermits arrived in this area and settled on top of these boulders, living a life in solitary contemplation above the clouds and only meeting sporadically during their recurrent hermit get-togethers.  In the ensuing centuries, the hermits were replaced on the rocktops by orthodox monasteries, which could only be reached by wooden ladders or even ropes.  This was only for the brave as these ropes only got replaced ‘when the Lord decided so’.  At its peak, there were over 20 rock-top monasteries, of which 6 are still operational at this moment (4 for monks and 2 for nuns).  My inner hermit can’t wait to join one of these skyborne monasteries, but only after listening one more time to this set from Aaristos…

Ende 2015 war es – als Daniel Ledwa, Karl Kirschmayer und Florian Neubauer – ihres Zeichens DJs, Musiker, Traumtänzer, Katzenliebhaber, Früh-ins-Bettgeher und Profiradsportler – nach einer nächtlichen Invasion vogelgestalt-ähnlicher Kreaturen und der gemeinsamen Verhinderung der kompletten Versklavung der Weltbevölkerung, einzig und allein mit ihren ausufernden DJ Sets trotzten – und seit jeher dieses prägende Erlebnis als Geburtsstunde ihres gemeinsamen Projektes — Vögel(n) mit Freunden — datieren.

Wie viel von dieser überbrachten Story stimmt, sei mal dahingestellt. Fakt ist jedoch, dass VmF heute nicht nur Clubevent und Label vereint – sondern Menschen unterschiedlichster Charaktere und Interessen zusammengeführt hat um etwas ganz verrücktes geschehen zu lassen.
