"Babylon (Akkadian: Bābili or Babilim; Arabic: بابل‎, Bābil) was a significant city in ancient Mesopotamia, in the fertile plain between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The city was built upon the Euphrates and divided in equal parts along its left and right banks, with steep embankments to contain the river's seasonal floods. Babylon was originally a small Semitic Akkadian city dating from the period of the Akkadian Empire c. 2300 BC."

I'm impressed by what people back then did. I mean, all of this stuff happened WAY before Christ, and all of us still benefit from the cultural wealth and technical inventions of that time. Since no one knows many things about Babylon for sure, I invented a sonic story about it. Any cheese, dark- or foolishness in the track is intended. It's a fantasy story.

I used original instruments from back then (paired with modern electronics), which may have sounded different, but again: no one knows that. This piece of music is my interpretation of things. Maybe you enjoy it, I hope you do. :-)

Each of the albums 5 tracks are meticulously crafted with perfect sonic balance and pleasing subtle nuances. Like all of Ingo's productions there is a precision that is most commonly reserved to describe his birth nations fine automobiles, yet here Ingo also shows us a playful side (particularly in Planet of the Grapes) with it's bouncy arpeggios and skipping percussion.

Dear friends,

this is something I wanted to do for a looong time, digging up rare, eclectic and often unnoticed gems of Electronica, Slow Rave and Deep House, some with soulful ethnic vibes, and create a DJ mix of it. It's been a long process to collect and select, so there's really a lot of work in this.

This is a completely free and uncommercial work for you to enjoy, but I want to ask you to support the artists involved, so please, check the tracklist and buy one or the other track (if you find it!). This is extremely well produced music of the highest quality and the people behind deserve more than just attention or listening to it. Go follow them on social media, Spotify, Soundcloud and whatnot, and again: please, buy some their stuff if you like it.

This is a 6 hour journey which I recommend to approach very open-minded and with attention. As mentioned, this is fantastic music. I call this "Navigator" because the purpose of it is to navigate you through an entire universe of vibes and sounds by artists from very different places. I think, despite the differences, it's a very homogenic piece that can be considered as one.

The duration of it could navigate you through:

• a full working day
• a car, train, bus ride, flight or boat trip
• a full night of love
• a hike through breathtaking landscapes
• a climb up a beautiful and challenging mountain
• another kind of "trip" (be careful with drugs!)
• a visit at your mother in law
• an evening with friends by a cracking bonfire
• a day on the beach
• an afternoon in a cabin in the woods (minus the horror part)
• lying in bed, planning how to save the world, while you watch rain drops hitting your windows

Whatever. You'll know how to enjoy it. I hope you're able to feel as good as I do when listening to it.

I've recently been snorkeling in the Red Sea in Egypt and was both amazed and extremely saddened at the same time. While I enjoyed the vast and lush beauty of the coral reefs and its marine life I also had to witness at least 50% of dead corals and incredible amounts of plastic. All of this, especially the beauty, inspired me to record this mix, dedicated to the underwater paradise that I most probably have witnessed for the last time in my lifetime, before we humans have destroyed it all.

This is an over 6 hours long mix, the first half mainly in minor keys, the second half in major keys. It's full of beauty, just like the underwater world of the ocean.

In the last few months, I have picked out records that I consider the most important and best from 1990 to 2005. Here and there I had to ask friends if they could provide me with digital recordings from vinyl, because I did not own much of the material myself anymore. After I had everything digitally available, I carefully (re)mastered each track, always staying close to the original, I didn't want destroy that special "feeling" of that time. Not that it's much important to you, probably, but I also pitch-corrected tracks that were slightly "off key", partly because of unstable vinyl recordings or issues with the production itself. Back then not everything was 100%, especially not when producers used analog synths.

After improving the music, I made a DJ mix out of it in my studio. And the result is now available to you, as a lossless FLAC file. You have never heard that music in a better sound quality!

That's why I call this mix series "Past Perfect", because that's what it is for me. Talking about "series"... this is the first installment. I have hundreds of more material from back then, so stay tuned for more.

I've been thinking some time about how to create this episode. A year-end mix in such a year? Am I referring to it?

No. I decided to make the mood of the mix exactly the same as always: how I feel.

As always, I've picked out the best tracks that I currently know and made a mix of them, as if carved from a single piece of noble wood. I consider this my best mix of the year, but I let you be the judge, of course.

I did everything as usual. I won't let a virus tell me how to create music.

This time it's all rolled into one: winter mood, lockdown therapy, the longing for normalcy, maybe a long club night, seeing sweaty bodies again, being crazy.

Powerful and emotionally charged, nothing for quiet hours, rather energetic. Still melancholic and a bit dreamy here and there.
