Dijo una vez un paisano de James Dewitt Yancey , más conocido como J Dilla…
¿Y él? , Él , se lo tomo al pie de la (letra ) instrumental .
Por cierto ese paisano es un tal Stevie Wonder… No sé si les suena.

De James se ha dicho de todo , se ha oído de todo y se le ha intentado copiar todo, y claro… sólo el original sobrevive a la eternidad.
¿Te imaginas a Kendrick Lamar sobre un ritmo de Dilla? , ¿Te imaginas a Thundercat colaborando con Dilla? , ¿Te imaginas a Jimi Hendrix colaborando con Amy Winehouse? , ¿Te imaginas un libro de Malcolm X con un prólogo de 2pac? .
Imagina , imaginar es un arte que James dominaba a la perfección.

Su legado fue la imaginación y con el tiempo los grandes soñadores pueden ver como sus fantasías se hacen realidad , él no puede verla pero esté donde esté estoy seguro de dos cosas:

1 ) No podrá verla pero si oírla .
2 ) Esté en el cielo o en el infierno, desde que él esté… el silencio no existe .

De él han dicho que era uno de los últimos reinventores del jazz , que verlo crear tenía que ser parecido a lo mismo que ver a Miguel Ángel delante de un trozo de mármol, sabiendo en lo que eso se convertiría , que es el papa de toda la oleada de productores que han salido con un sonido “nuevo” en esta década .
De él han dicho muchas cosas… pero creo que lo mejor es oir lo que transmiten otros artistas cuando imaginan ser él… porque ya sabemos… imaginar es un arte.
Por cierto , los buenos mueren jóvenes ¿No? Pero que más le da morir joven a alguien que sabe que su música seguirá sonando cuando el infinito deje de serlo.
