Resurgence

I found an old mix.
Recorded sometime in the early to mid ’90s, back when DJing wasn’t a feature — it was a craft.

We worked with vinyl. With hands, ears, and instinct.
Two records became one story — not because software allowed it, but because timing, friction, and patience made it possible. We mixed without digital effects, without shortcuts. The record did the work. The producer was given the space they deserved.

There was no sync button.
No screen telling you where the kick was.
We listened. We adjusted. We failed sometimes and learned from it. Beatmatching was done by ear, not by pixels.

Tracks were allowed to breathe.
No thirty tracks in ten minutes.
You built tension, released it, and only moved on when the moment asked for it. A mix wasn’t about speed — it was about direction.

This was DJing with respect.
For the music. For the makers. For the people on the floor.
Not to show what you could do, but to let something be felt.

This mix isn’t perfect.
But it’s honest.
And maybe that’s exactly why it still matters today.
